Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Unfortunately, this market is no longer what it used to be. Very disappointing experience. Gone are the unique artisans and their crafts. In their place are now stalls filled with unoriginal african themed goods with HIGH pressure salespeople who will try to convince you that they make all the items themselves. There is only one stall worth a visit and it is the lady selling a line of bamboo textile wraps made by a Capetonian designer.

The market contains of many souvenir stalls. Most sellers are extremely insisting which was so annoying that we left. Not really worth the visit.

Very busy, lively market with good organic veggies.. However, the place is so packed you hardly can move. Thus. It has lost quite some of the attraction it had to me some years ago.

Green Pont Market is a must see on Sundays: food market with lots of organic and alternative products, very busy, very colorful, very packed.

This review is for Green Market Square. The location listing is funky on this.

This is an outdoor flea market. Be prepared to be sold! Be prepared to negotiate!

If you are comfortable saying "no thank you" and moving on, this place is a lot of fun. Talking to the vendors and seeing everyone's wares is a real treat. Go there for the experience, not necessarily for the quality or price of the items they are selling. It is a great place to people watch too!

Some walked and some Ubered to this outdoor market, easily visited in one hour, where we purchased necklaces, belt, and other souvenirs from various vendors. Loved the baskets woven from colored electric wire, but alas, no room in the suitcase.Found the city bus tour as we walked out on the main street and enjoyed that.

This market is open 7 days a week but Sundays having less vendors. Most of the vendor stalls do have the same items so you really have to check out the quality and haggle for a better price. Lots of handmade items as well. If you are staying in the area, then definitely come and visit. Victoria Wharf has much better quality items but you will be paying much more. We enjoyed interacting with the sellers. Some of them are really fun and we even took pictures with them. We managed to buy quite a few things for reasonable prices (after haggling, of course).

There was nothing new here and the same stuff sold here as in any other tourist shop.
The paintings are all the same, motives and colors.
Fun to walk and look through but you are almost feeling a bit unwelcome if you do not buy anything.
Been there - done that.

See one stall and you have seen them all.
A regular24 Carat tourist trap.
My wife and I got to Cape Town each year and can assure people that there are far more interesting places to go to.
