We weren't sure what to expect. We thoroughly enjoyed the guided tour and hike into the Lava Tunnel. They provide you with a hard hat and headlamp, and I would suggest grabbing a hiking pole, also (near the hard hats). The temperature inside the tunnel...More
My husband and I found this interesting. It was educational and the tunnel was far more colorful than imagined! The tour guides were great. The company offers hiking poles if you have trouble on uneven surfaces (which I took advantage of) and helmets for all....More
We visited the caves at 5 pm, which is the latest you can go. They are very interesting to see! Only guided tours and the standard one takes 1 hour. A little expensive, approximately 50 euros.

Probably best to book ahead as people were getting turned away. Good tour, informative. Guide was funny and knowledgeable. They say to dress warm but if you’re only doing the one hour tour, you’ll be fine with a sweater. One guy even wore a T-shirt....More
Great guide explaining formation, history and all other the facets of the lava tunnel.
The highlight of the tour was 5 minutes with all lights out and complete silence. Unforgettable experience.
The fee is very reasonable and the spacious parking is free.

Children at this age usually have no problem visiting the lava tunnel and in fact, they love it. We do provide crampons during winter as sections can be slippery but unfortunately, we don't have crampons for such small feet (at least not for the youngest one). Only sections are slippery so if you can carry the youngest ones for a bit, you should be fine.
