Priceless views of the hills surrounding this abbey. Worth the visit. Local shop selling cosmetics and essential oils. Missed the Gregorian singing though because it was only on Sunday and holiday morning mass around 11am

This beautiful church is all that remains of a Benedictine monastery supposedly founded in the time of Charlemagne although construction of the current church apparently started in 1118. If you look at the altar step you can see an inscription with this date. It has...More

We visited this abbey, which is almost similar to a castle, while on City Wonders’ Tuscany tour. It was nice to stop and see the church, with picturesque Montalcino on the hilltop above. The countryside and rolling hills of the area are breathtaking.

It was the first sight we visited once we arrived in Tuscany and it was a lovely experience. It is peaceful and quiet, you can enjoy the views all around the place, visit the garden which is amazing and just relax while visiting the monastery

A pleasant uncrowded stop in the countryside. The audio tour of the church and attached rooms was worthwhile. The first 30 minutes of the audio tour are a self-tour of the church interior. During the second 30 minutes of the audio tour a person leads...More

This was a stop on a day where the itinerary was more full than it should have been. We stayed longer than we anticipated, visiting the abbey and strolling the herb garden. A beautiful location, and some much needed peace and quiet.

Beautiful building in a stunning setting. Well worth a drive from Montalcino. Take refreshments as there is there is no bar/restaurant facility onsite.

We read reviews that the monks were likely not singing anymore, nor even there (maybe 2 left?), having been reassigned to another monastery. So sadly it felt more like visiting a museum than a church with piped in Gregorian chant music) and the gift store...More

This is a monastery dating back several hundred years. It is not near any major city and you can just imagine the hardships of life in this type of environment. The monastery was an active church until a few years ago, but it is still...More

Hello, the abbey should be open daily 10:30-12:30 and then again 2:30-6:30 pm But the chants are not live anymore ( but recorded) since it was a small group of monks who returned to their order in France. Last I had heard... More
