Definitely worth the short detour from the road. Well written information boards and raised boardwalk let's you see the stromatolites close up. You can see tiny bubbles coming off the submerged areas if you look closely.
Be warned though that if you wanted to see...More
We saw these formations over 35 years ago and were pleased to see them again from the excellent vantage point of the triangular boardwalk. Plenty of information boards to explain rhe stromatolites. Once the strip of sand is negotiated, the boardwalk is easygoing.
Stromatolites are only found in two places on the planet and we were lucky enough to see these and learn about them from the information boards, as we walked around the boardwalk. Located at Hamlin Pools. Worth a visit!
