If you are self driving and on the way to Gudvangen or Flam from Bergen or Voss, this is a must do! It is a one way road going downhill towards Gudvangen/Flam so even though it is super steep, it doesn't require any of the...More

This 75 minute coach ride was the 3rd and final part of our Norway in a Nutshell trip and was every bit as scenic as the train and boat rides. If you're doing a DIY NIN tour this particular part cannot be booked in advance...More

While the fjords in Norway are spectacular and highlights of any visit to Norway, this little stretch of road winding down a steep grade with its cutbacks was a sight to experience. Would never have found it without the fjord tour to Flam and Grundhaven.

We did this little bus trip as part of our Norway in a Nutshell tour. It was incredible. A bit hair raising but so well worth it. Amazing, fantastic, beautiful Norwegian scenery.

Public busses line the wharf at the arrival of each boat - there is plenty of room for all (no reservation required). Our bus had a fantastic driver who narrated the entire journey in English - he took the Stalheimskleiva detour along with all the...More

Very steep and lots of hairpin turns, with scenic views of Nærøydal valley and waterfalls as you drive down. Luckily it’s one way only, so you don’t have to contend with cars trying to pass. We also found a small turnout on the right just...More

The Stalheimskleiva is Norway’s steepest road. Its reputation is well earned as a dangerous road, no doubt. 13 hairpin bends and gradients of 20% over a very short distance test even the most skilled drivers. Thankfully our coach driver made it look easy and wasn’t...More

You can route on Google maps reliably. It is not far. We took a train from Bergen to Flam, ferry from Flam to Gudvangen, bus to Voss and return train to Bergen in one day (9 hours total )
