My family and I went a on the carnival cruise for christmas and newyears. mystery island was our 1st stop. This island is so beautiful. Clean, and the water is so clear and blue. The people are friendly, there's not many food options on the...More
Island is very small (i.e. walk around in 30 mins) - don't take Vatu currency - they only take AUD $. Snorkel with all the other tourists, lounge on the beach, or go for a walk - that's pretty much all there is to do.
I am writing all this reviews late. This was in March 2018 and it was just wonderful. They have a great sense of humor with that human soup jacuzzi. I dont know if thats true or its just the story for the tourists, however, someone...More
This island is a gem. Water crystal clear, incredible snorkelling, great market set up and friendly "locals" from the big island. For such a small island, you certainly dont feel overcrowded by people from the ship. We found many quiet spots to relax and take...More
I love this place, the only thing that that put me off were the big spiders hanging between the trees as you walk around the market, just keep your eyes looking straight and it's okay though ( Don't look up). The market was nice, lots...More
We spent the day here and walked around and snorkeled. Amazing snorkeling. Great snorkeling at the far end of the runway that runs down center of island. This is where the local tours that you booked were taking people and you snorkeled to the wharf....More

Not sure how it is now after the Tsunami went through on Dec 5th 2018 but when we were there on the day prior (4th) the snorkeling on the back side of the Island (away from the Jetty) was a little difficult due to the wind and currents. We went up to the very end of the Island (off Jetty and turn right) where the airstrip starts and went in there. I noticed that the clear bottom boats were there as well so must have been the correct choice. Waist deep in water just with snorkel and mask on and counted 25 different fish in 15 minutes. Current was jus enough to move you sideways if you lifted your feet off the bottom but worst cae scenario just go with it and it takes you right back to the Jetty.
