Visited today and can't believe it's the first time I've visited. We are members of English Heritage so took the opportunity today with the weather being more favourable than it has been of late to take in some well needed fresh air. Being mostly ruins, it still had plenty to interest with lots of rooms and nooks and cranny to... More

Although the castle is a bit in ruins it is visually stunning sitting on the hill above Warkworth - great to walk around - had the dog so could not walk inside the castle

You won't spend much more than an hour here inside the grounds but there's surprisingly lots to see. You can get an audio tour for free. Many nooks and crannies to investigate. Parking is £3.10 but refundable at the end. Very friendly staff. I enjoyed it.

Although not one of the most intact castles in this area we loved our visit to Warkworth. We'd recommend the walk around the river to the beach and also a trip into Amble. Make sure to visit the nearby Spurelli ice cream parlour too!

A great ruin to clamber around that welcomes you before you arrive in Warkworth. Great for picnics and for the kids to run around. Lots to see. Plenty of parking and a lovely riverside walk too. Dog friendly - not in the tower but in the grounds. Very good value for money.

I went with a few friends to Warkworth Castle for a day trip. It was fairly easy to get to--we took the train to Alnmouth then got a cab to the castle. It's part of the English Heritage sites so if you're a member it's free to go in. We had a nice couple of hours wandering around the castle... More

We have often been to Warkworth, but it's a long time since we visited the castle. The keep is particularly interesting with spectacular views. I would definitely recommend the audio guide as it brought the castle to life.

An English Heritage property which seems to have some strange opening times but well worth a visit. If I had one criticism it's the fact the shop is so small that even with two or three of you it's manic and whilst I appreciate you only get one chance to give info and sell memberships it took us an age... I had not been here for 45 years, and while the castle building is probably much the same, there was more than I remember to read and get absorbed into the history of the place. I thoroughly enjoyed the 90 minutes spent here.
