Your site as below states free bus from Shenfield (see picture) so we took a train to Shenfield and waited and waited.......in the end contacted you and was told they don't run in half-term!!!!! cost me a further £31to get to Ongar, 1.5 hours later, with small children....not fun!!!!

Your picture/screenshot was not attached but I think I know what's happened. Our train and bus timetables are available through our website (see the timetables and fares section) and I have double-checked that on the day in question we had a shuttle bus between Epping and North Weald only. On the front of the website we have a general description... More

Usually go solo, but is also good with friends or family. From the moment you buy your ticket, until the time you go home it is like stepping into the past as you savour the atmosphere of railways like they were back in the 1950s. Things usually kick off about Easter time and go right through until Christmas. The web... More

I have relatives near and decided to visit Ongar station to have a look at what was there. Steam trains were 'running' but unfortunately, the engine had broken down further down the line so it would be a long wait to see a train arrive. However, it was very interesting to look around the station including inside the signal box.... More

Visited during the 'Mince Pie Special', and took the vintage bus from Epping station. Whilst it wasn't ever so clear where exactly we were meant to wait (amongst the throng of sales shoppers using the Underground), the bus arrived on time. The mince pies and the welcomed glasses of mulled wine were collected before we boarded the train. It was... More

Went today on the Mince Pie special. Nice clean, atmospheric stations. Clean and tidy trains, staff friendly and polite. Had a Mince Pie and mulled wine, needed the mulled wine as it was freezing cold. Will definitely return with my grandson when the weather gets warmer. Only downside would be lack of parking spaces.

Popular with local cyclists as well as Railway Tourists for a tea and cake stop. Interesting location with steam trains and reasonable prices.

Visited the EOR today for the first time, even though I have lived within 10 miles of it for the past 20 years! As my Step Dad is a steam enthusiast so we have visited a fair few of these over the years, and this was as good as any others. It was great to be able to get up... More

We booked the Santa special for Christmas eve and it got us into the festive spirit. It is somehow more special now that I know that many of the staff were volunteers! My kids enjoyed the double decker bus trip, they loved the characters (especially the grumpy Grinch' and we liked the little extras like the mulled wine, mince pies... More
