Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely seaside town about a one-hour bus drive from Catania (1€ per ride). A great place to relax, walk, swim, or have a nice meal or drink. There is no proper or sandy beach, just stone blocks to lay on, alos the access into the water is an awkward bit there is a swimming club with platforms and a swimming pool for better comfort. I recommend taking an easy walk along the sea to Aci Castello.

A lovely little town. We were there in January, and it was a mild, sunny day. It's a very pleasant walk along the seaside promenade, along to Aci Castello, and back to Aci Trezza.
It was always a wish of ours to visit here, after seeing "La Terra Trema." The town lived up to what we hoped it would be. The church that features in the film, is still there, and the famous rocks off the coastline still instantly recognizable. The people were friendly, and proud of their town. Unfortunately, we just missed seeing the small museum, which is closed from 12;30, to 4 pm. We wanted to find out more about the film, and cast. If "Ntoni" is still alive, he must be in his 90s by now.
I highly recommend Aci Trezza.

This was a third spot in this area where we stopped to take pictures of the rocks, the ocean, and the general view. The boats were a nice addition.

This small sea side town is the absolute place to be to immerse yourself in Sicilian/Italian culture. Me and my family never heard anyone else speaking English the whole time we were there.
There is no sand here, just rocks but there are four or five platforms, kind of like piers which allow you easy access for swimming and sunbathing. The locals call them lidos and it’s about €10 for all day access plus umbrella and lounger.
A few nice cocktail bars, many restaurants, all largely fish based are the mainstay at night. Young people queue for granita with brioche at cafes in the daytime.
You can easily walk to the next town, Aci Castello along the promenade in about 15 mins and visit it’s Norman castle which is amazing. The views from that and the village itself are gorgeous. The sea here is very very clear.
We took trips by taxi to Castelmola (hilltop village), Taormina (with cable car to beach). And then on another day, Mount Etna plus a wine tasting at the Nicosia winery near Catania. On yet another day, we went to Catania historic centre, Duomo, and so on.
Special mention to the taxi firm Sea Bus of Catania. Sebastiano especially, but also Nicola and everyone. A very professional firm with friendly, helpful, people who act as tour guides as they go along!
The weather was very hot indeed, perfect for swimming but probably not city walking around.
My favourite holiday for a good while.

It is a charming, small village with the lava stone beach. Walk along the cost towards Aci Castello where there is a scenic fortress standing by the cost, the water is beautiful, clear, you can find giant lava stones to warm your body up and then jump in the refreshing water. It can be a lovely few-hour activity or even a day to spend there. If you don't want to take the double decker bus from Catania, the super easy drive is from Piazza Borsellino, public bus runs every 30 minutes,1euro (need to buy the tickets at the ticket machine), the drive takes approx. 40 minutes in one direction.
