This was one of those places where a lot is packed into a small space. Each of the cottages was full of artefacts and information and gave a great insight into life in the past. While we were there a group of schoolchildren were there on an excursion. They were fascinated by their surroundings, as was I as they spoke... More

This is an interesting attraction, demonstrating the history of the local area. The exhibit is well kept and full of information. A guide book is provided to allow you to read about each display as you walk through the old village. Definitely worth a visit if in the area. There's a nice gift shop too.

The Glencolmcille Folk village is a great insight of how families have lived and worked over the generations. A great testament to the area. Plenty of artefacts, posters, literature and projected images & videos. As a bonus the is the ever present gift shop and tea room - we enjoyed a lovely bowl of homemade soup.

While travelling around Ireland we liked to learn about the history of the various places and the Folk Village provided a great view into the past. The cottages were well presented and very informative. The school house reminded me of my early child hood in a country town in Australia. We had those exact desks and the ink wells. I... More

It was a bit hard to find as there are not enough signs and its very easy to get lost in the rural roads but once we got there it was lovely. A few houses on a small land which made it very compact but interesting enough

Glencolmcille Folk Village consists of approximately 7 buildings that show the evolution of buildings in Donegal County over the past 250 years or so. And in doing so, you learn about the people who would have lived or worked or gone to school in the area. There are many descriptions that explain how various tools were used by the residents... The folk village is well worth a visit,it has a mixture of very old original building's and some newly purpose built, you get a real feel of what it must of been like living in a very old remote village in north west Ireland during different decade's,you can go into all of the building's which house many old original artifact's,the café... Have to admit myself and my girlfriend didn't walk round the little village but we seen it from outside and went into the little tourist shop. What we went for was to see the map of Ireland on the wall must be at least 12ft high

So very enjoyable to see different periods of history right in front of you. The artifacts are all real as you could see by touching them--but don't you dare. They are much to rare, delicate and authentic. We enjoyed each different cabin, marking the various time periods from the 1700s to the 1960s. What truly hard lives these people lived.... More
