About

Parc Natural del Delta de l'Ebre is a Natural Park located in the South of Catalonia and it includes the Ebre River Delta. It is a very nice place, where you can see very beautiful views of the sea and coast, and you can enjoy with local food in a lot of restaurants located in the natural park or surroundings, especially seafood. Also, it is possible to take a boat and sail at the end of the Delta, when river joins with the sea: very nice place. Here, also there are some beaches and walkpaths, where you can do some excursions in a flat ground.

Potentially very beautiful, with views of the sea, delta and mountains. However the whole area is spoilt by the amount of litter, including the beach. Birds are nice but not much variety and its an easy pleasant cycle. Just get it cleaned up!!

Parc Natural del Delta de l'Ebre is a Natural Park located in the Ebre River Delta, in the South of Catalonia, close to the border with País Valencià. It is a natural place, where you can do some very beautiful hikes, especially from the upper side of mountains, from where you can see the most beautiful views of Delta. Also, it is a zone without unevenness, so it is a very nice place to walk, or cycling for all family. For me, the views inside Natural Park are good, not exceptional. The most interesting places are restaurants, where you can taste local food, which is fantastic. In summer, it is possible to go to the beach, but usually it is full of people. Also, you can go by boat around Delta and go to Musclarium, a mussels and oysters farm, wich is located in the middle of the sea. Very interesting.

Visiting the Delta in January was beautiful, but of course I would love to return when the rice fields are a beautiful green and birds are abundant! Lots of flamingos and water birds about but you will need a long lens to see them all as the nature parks are closed. I enjoyed this very different landscape in the South of Catalonia.

We had driven past the delta, along the main road, many times: this time we took time to potter into the extensive space that is the Ebro delta. It was fascinating.
Firstly, it is very extensive - even to explore by car takes time. It is almost entirely given over to the cultivation of rice, and the wetlands landscape gives rise to brilliant birdlife - more extensive than in the Albufera, further south. There are tracks, a few observation towers, and fairly bleak beaches.
There are several companies offering boat trips. We suggest that you don't go on one with amplified commentary - it is disturbing to both wildlife and other visitors.
Go prepared for wind, and for very narrow roads.

Family friendly natural reserve, where birdwatching is a must. On several platforms around the park this is a must, as natural lagoons and wetlands surrounded by rice fields allow birds to rest and eat. If you are lucky, you can see flamingos in the middle of nowhere. Bring your bike, cajak or SUP and enjoy the natural environment, as well as 100% natural sand beaches

This is a gorgeous small hotel. There is outdoor dining and bar. We only had the breakfast but understand the dinners are award winning. All staff were very helpful when asked but in the Spanish way of leaving you alone otherwise.

We were intrigued by the descriptions of rice paddies and birds, and looked into kayaking, but in the end were very happy that we simply drove to Eucalyptus beach, along which you can drive a fair way, parked 50m from the sea, and then walked along the beach for a long way, and went swimming. There was about 1 car every 100m, so the beach felt empty, and this is a *really* gorgeous pure sand beach. Reminded us of Washington State pacific beaches except for the weather and water temperature!
We then drove along the narrow spit that connects to an island (which one cannot access)---fun driving across a relatively narrow spit with water on both sides, constantly reminding ourselves that there are no tides in the Mediterranean.
Finally, we drove by some wetlands, where there were large flocks of flamingos in the distance, and about 15-20 nearby. Fun to watch them eat and preen.
Overall, a very relaxing place, although do not expect wilderness.

Hi there,
I'm thinking of visiting the delta sometime in December, and I was wondering if it's a good month.. Has anyone been in that time of the year?
are there still flamingos around? How would the vegetation be in winter?
Thanks for your tips!
