Lovely weekend away boating

Hire a boat at end of October for a birthday break. Boat was ready and waiting for us. We had to watch a safety video, we could've watched before saving precious time, boat ran perfect all weekend. Had a lovely time. Will be back again

First time boating and it was great, the staff at Richardsons were excellent and very helpful. The boat (Elite Gem) was nice, clean, well equipped and easy enough to handle after working the steering out! I found it a little difficult to get on and off the boat (a ladder or collapsible step would have been good) but that says more about my level of fitness than anything else! The Norfolk Broads are beautiful, lovely scenery as you cruise and then some brilliant pubs close to moorings. The moorings in the larger villages and towns do get busy so you have to trust to luck a bit when finding somewhere to moor for the night.

Love Norfolk Broads

Visited the Broads after a 10 year absence and although some things have changed, it is still a beautiful place for a holiday. We found shopping in Stalham particularly good. Excellent range of shops, including a local butcher, and also Tesco. Would recommend a boating holiday, even if you've never handled a boat!

Wonderful time

Ten days on Swan Rapture, what a cracking boat comfortable easy to handle quiet when underway. We visited everywhere on the north side and got £58 refund on on fuel. As ever the service from Richardson's is second to none, courteous and so efficient. A special thank you to Jacob who did our trial run, and to the engineers who came out and sorted a small problem for us. The water stayed hot overnight. The bed was made up on arrival and towels provided on platinum fleet cruisers. The only thing I would say is that the galley while serviceable is looking a little tired and could do with a refit. Thank you and see you in May.

Lovely holiday

We have just finished four nights aboard Silver Coral. The vessel is quite stunning and suited us fine. It is about 28 foot long and the space has been well planned out. It is a lovely modern, comfortable boat with electric anchor, electric windscreen wipers, and a bow thruster.

We wild moored on the four nights at a couple of Broads, our favourite being Salhouse. It was lovely to see all the wildlife and beautiful scenery, so peaceful.

This was our fifth boating holiday with Richardson’s, an excellent friendly company who we highly recommend. We are returning in May 2024 on board the lovely boat, Broadway P. We keep coming back to the Norfolk Broads as since lockdown finished it is one of our favourite places to holiday.

Small (but tall!) basic boat, backed up by great service

Broadland Wave is a great little boat for a couple, but it really is little: the bed is smaller than the photos make it look, and the kitchen isn't big enough to sneeze in! Having said that, everything except the wifi worked (and that's just down to the terrible mobile signal around the broads). The shower was surprisingly good, and the pots & pans in the kitchen were good quality. The only negative was the kitchen knives, that were so blunt they might as well not be there. The only implement sharp enough to cut meat up was the scissors. We did have a problem with the TV aerial, but Richardsons came out and replaced it within a couple of hours of us reporting it - great service. The only grumble we have is that we knew the boat wouldn't fit under Wroxham or Potter Heigham bridges, but we weren't warned it would only fit under Ludham bridge at low tide. As we'd planned to spend our first night further South, this scuppered our initial plans.

Thank you for taking the time to review your holiday onboard the Broadland Wave. We do always state on check in to let us know if you have any problems at all. I can only apologise about the knives, if you had let us know about these we would have been more than happy to bring you out another set. All our boats will go under Ludham bridge and again we would have sent someone down to help you through the bridge if you were worried about taking it through, but sorry that this upset your plans for the first night. We hopefully look forward to welcoming you back to Richardsons again in the future😊.

Richardson's boat holiday

On the whole, a lovely holiday. The boat 'San Domingo Ii' was somewhat basic, but clean and comfortable.My only criticism was the toilet. It refused to pre flush, and we ended up using a jug of water to flush it afterwards, which considering the price of the holiday seemed a bit much. Think I would want to inspect the boat before another holiday as I don't much like constantly having to use public looks. Also although advertised for four people, I think that would have been a struggle

Attracting prices, poor booking experience

While booking a boat through the website, the payment (VISA) was stated as rejected due to lacking authentication, but at the same time my credit card showed a reservation note for the expected amount.

After contacting Richardsons through their web form, they offered to resolve this issue by calling me back. But this never happened, even not after calling (unanswered) them and sending further emails. The only reaction was that the credit card reservation vanished silently after a week.

Cstomer service: not recommendable.

We are so sorry that you have had this experience. This is not the usual customer service that we provide. Occasionally we do have issues with the payments on the web and we always do our very best to resolve this issue with the customer normally the following morning. If you could send us another email we will look into this for you and see what happened with your previous emails.

WE had 10 days on the San Lucia. Just the two off us. Got cought in a downpour. In the cut down south.the canopy is impossible to put up. Unless we both got on the sides off the boat. so we got soaked. Along with all the seating area. This boat is not suitable for just two people. overheated coming across Braden water. struggled to cut through the water.low on hydraulic oil. a smell kept coming up from the engine. and we had to pay over £100 ON TOP FOR DIESEL USED. Good enough for up north. not for going south.Would not recommend this boat for couples only

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review regarding the San Lucia. The San Lucia is classed as a 4-6 berth boat so as you say probably not suitable for 2. We are sorry that you had a few problems with your boat and I can see that our engineers were able to rectify this issue for you. The amount of fuel used will depend on the distance you are travelling, the speed you are going at, whether or not you are going against the tide and if you have used your heating. We hopefully look forward to welcoming you back to Richardsons Boating holidays again in the future.

Four men in a boat

Hired a boat called Fine Horision 1 for 5 days to celbrate my retirment,with 3 mates, a good holiday great staff, boat was older but relected in the price a few battle scars, but new engine great on fuel.
Richardsons at Stalham is a great location with Tescos down the road to stock up,showers a cafe and washing machines, free morrings as well, we all thoughly enjoyed our time on the broads, very relaxing and saw planty of wildlife, the steering on the boat took some getting used to as its 45' long and no bow thruster, wich made for entertaining turn arounds to get off some of the moorings, defently recomend to escape the rat race.
Have booked for next year, but have to take the girfreind as she was jelouse.
