Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This pool is hidden among millionaires row on the East Fremantle/Bicton side of the Swan River. The GPS has you driving down Duraham Street off Preston Point Road, where you are confronted with a letter box at the end of a Culdesac.
Where is the pool?
49 steps, and 7 landings down there at river level.
The road stops at roof level. No signs!
Imagine trying to put up a sign in millionaires row? It would be pulled down before the paint had time to dry.
There are some car bays here, but the better access point is via the carpark on the left of Blackwall Reach Parade off Braunton Rd. From this point there is also wheel chair access. As the carpark adjoins the pathways of the river foreshore which lead to the pool entry gates. (photos)
I cannot think of a better way to start the day. With a swim in an Artisan water filled 30 metre pool, overlooking the Swan River. There is also a spa in the western corner for those that do not wish to swim. Some visitors do just that. The bore that feeds this establishment retrieves water at a depth of 750 metres below the river at 37.5 degrees celsius (body temperature). You need not worry. The spa is the only receptacle to be re-filled on a daily basis. Whereas the pool is topped up when required, and obviously runs at a much cooler temperature, for lap swimmers.
Interesting facts here, from Duncan, one of the daily managers.
Before the Sugar Factory (CSR) across the river, was demolished to make way for residential parks and gardens. The pool would pump/take the waste water from the cooling towers of the sugar factory to heat the clean pool water, some 500 metres across the river. That process is reversed today (as the pipe still exists) and the local council re-cycles, uses the water that is changed daily, for its parks and gardens use.
The only drawback for me is the 70 mins. turn around in travel time from the southern suburbs. So now that I have discovered it, it will be enjoyed by me on mornings where I visit clients of the northern suburbs.
A worse eye sore for mine (over possible road advertising/signage) were the many metal uprights that protrude the sky-eye-line. Yes the yacht masts. Could they not be lowered when not in use? This would improve the scene across the beautiful river! And all visitors, enjoy this relaxing view for the nominal entry fee of $5 - $6.

Bicton Pool is a great spot to do laps with a view.
Nestled beside the river and the houses of the rich and famous it remains an icon of the southern suburbs.
Also a great spot to buy a take away coffee at the cafe and sit and enjoy the amazing view.

You have the choice to swim in the pool or the original baths( the jettied off area of the river).
The original Bicton Baths is lovely during the warmer months to swim in the river in a bit of safety with younger kids. The grassed bank is lovely to sit down and have a picnic with friends while kids have the freedom to play in the water.
The pool is right beside and mainly is used for waterpolo.

We were told about this place by some freinds. Great for canoeing, stand up paddle boarding. Family orientated BBQ picnic area, play ground for kids. Some shade from the trees.

Bicton Pool is primarily a Water Polo Venue but often has lanes available for laps. Is single depth and not suitable for non swimmers. The beauty of the pool is that is located on the river and the views are stunning .

I Learnt to swim here as a kid. When the sea breeze is blowing hard this is the best place to go for a swim. Very well protected from the south westerly breeze but hard to get a parking spot on a Friday when the Water Polo is on.
