They are red. There are lots of people here. It’s not breath taking and it’s one of the dirtier places I’ve visited.

You simply need to remember, these're not the white-colored dunes. So long as you realise that, simply enjoy yourself there. I continually show visitors this location and always have a fast appearance at these dunes. I generally have a cool ice or drink cream at...More

Nice to see a red dunes, it looks very cool and sliding on those plastic things is kinda fun. Nevertheless the ladies that will just adopt you with a vig smile on your face and help you sliding, will want money out of that. I...More

We went to have a look at the red sand dunes. It was nice, it was a lot of sand and it has a wonderful color. Other than that..? Nothing. Nice to see, but you aren’t missing out a lot if you don’t go. The...More

Actually A really nice place, but you need to get there before the 25 buses with tourists arrive. So, preferably before sunrise....

Free to use a glimpse. Count on to be hassled by kids. Question in case the children have the cash or maybe their parents force them going and work. Red dunes are good to find out.

Might be a little bit overrated. The sand besides the road on our way to White Sand Dunes was even redder. The locals kept approaching us to rent us the sand board and it was a bit disturbing. It was more crowded as the entrance...More

Just a lot of sand full of trash. Everybody just dropped their empty plastic bottles all over the place and it was just sad. What is wrong with people!?!

beautiful sunset, but much more packed compared to white sands. We remained until around 6pm, if the sun lagged the dunes, giving a romantic red-orange colour on the surrounds.

Did this as part of a hostel tour. Doesn’t compare to the white sand dunes, lots of rubbish and hawkers about. Be careful with the restaurants opp if you’re hungry. Literally everyone in our groups meal was terrible! Worth a visit though if on a...More

Is this the only place that you wish to visit? I have not seen public buses plying that route. As mentioned by other reviewers, various forms of transport including taxis are available but the most popular is the 4 hour jeep... More

No you can easily do it on your own. Renting a motorbike or one of the jeep tours is probably a the best and most affordable way. I think our tour started at 4.30 or 5.00 am.

The dunes are not that close together but not a great distance either. I saw a lot of hotels along the way coming from Phan Theit to the red dunes.
