Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is an excellent pub where you can get some peace and quiet. No jukebox or tv.
6 Landlord, Ivor keeps 6 real ales flowing and 3 Ciders.
His wife Linda is really nice too.
Good luck to them,

I popped in here the other day, as I'd spotted the place and thought it looked interesting. Went on my own, on the way back from a bracing walk on Bodmin Moor. Not the sort of thing I'd do, usually, but on that day it felt right. I wasn't disappointed. I spent a lovely couple of hours sat at the bar, sampling the pub's own Bell Inn Ale, which was excellent, and chatting with Linda the landlady, who was very friendly and welcoming. It was a fairly quiet time of the day (6-8pm), but still there were enough people in there for the atmosphere to feel nice. I was struck by just what a nice environment it was to spend time in, and how much they obviously cared about the ales, and the general way they run the place. I will definitely be going back, and bringing friends. Thanks Linda!

We stumbled across this pub in Tower street after looking at all the others in town and not really feeling it. Then at last we found The Bell which was defiantly the right one and so worth the wait! A proper pub without noisy screens, fruit machines or music. Simply clean and friendly and welcoming with a great range of beers to choose from and the prices were good too! We stayed longer than we had planned as the place had a really nice vibe and we felt really comfortable in the surroundings. I have to say that the little courtyard was a nice touch and the toilets were extremely clean which is always a real bonus in this country! We look forward to a return visit soon!

My partner and I spent a good deal of time looking for a proper west country pub, and this ticked all the boxes. Well worth the 60 minute drive! Situated on a hill (obviously) down a narrow street (again, obviously) this place looks the real deal. We were warmly greeted by the locals and chief draughtsman, sat down, helped with a crossword, and drank two delicious local brews. Will happily come back (and hope to).

Popped in for a quick drink. Obviously used by the locals. Real ales on the pump. Ordered ale from the coastal brewery called merry maidens mild. Very good. Lovely little walled courtyard. Toilets extremely clean with sanitary products provided in the cubicles, nice touch.

The Bell is a "proper" pub. NO juke box, NO games machines, NO fancy bar menu... Simply a VAST range of real ales all kept in peak condition. They do serve the usual range of drinks, but it is the ales, usually six or seven on draft, that makes the place so special.

A wonderful place for a pie and a pint !.

We found this pub by accident and we were so glad we did. Staff really good and they allowed you to have a taste of the beers on offer. The pub is so good no TVs, fruit machines, or loud music, just somewhere to go and have a chat even with the locals who were really friendly. We went back there a few times while we had a break in Launceston and can honestly say it is a friendly pub with a host of really good points.

This was my first visit and I will definitely be going back again. The selection of ales is very good and the beer tasted great. The landlord offers a friendly welcome and I enjoyed the lack of tv and fruit machines. There is a family room but we did not visit it so cannot comment.
