Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This excellent no-frills "proper" pub does everything old-fashioned pubs should. A warm welcome, a wide selection of ales, and traditional surroundings. Some simple snacks available, but no serious food, and thankfully no music, fruit machines or any other gizmos.

What a delight to find this hidden secret in Launceston, what a beautiful gem, This little pub from the Past is a free house. If your looking for a meal forget it go some where else. this a really old fashion Pub. The way a Pub should Be, It's a true local in every way. we spent four night in Launceston Cornwell and every night we went to the Bell Inn for a few beers, a good laugh with the Locals and a fun night.

This is an excellent pub where you can get some peace and quiet. No jukebox or tv.
6 Landlord, Ivor keeps 6 real ales flowing and 3 Ciders.
His wife Linda is really nice too.
Good luck to them,
Darren.

Not for me. Visited on a Saturday lunch time to find the bar with only one other customer in there. No welcome from the man behind the bar. No back ground noise. Just a click of a pen from the other customer doing a cross word. No music. No screens for sports etc. No juke box. Im sure this would maybe appeal to some but no, I do not like to drink in a grave yard environment. "Family room" out the back with no provisions for children just a dark room with tables in lines like a canteen. Seems all the money has been spent in renovating the bar area.
I moved away and have recently returned to Launceston. I previously loved the bell and found it was always busy on a Saturday. The lady who used to work the bar was lovely. I have been told she is now at The Countryman so I think I will be heading out that way in future on a Saturday to enjoy my pints. Well worth the taxi fare. I was rather shocked to find it so empty and quiet after how bustling it was before I moved away. What has happened to the pubs in this town? Disappointing.

Hi,
We have deliberately opened the Bell Inn as an alternative to all the other pubs in the town.
I am confused as to how you found it so busy on a Saturday lunchtime as it did not previously open until 4pm!
If you had been more observant you would have noticed all the games for children and books for adults near the entrance to the family room.
I am very pleased that you, and your friends with the grizzly child, do not like what we have achieved, hundreds of others do.

We visited the Bell Inn on a Friday evening and found it to be a very busy friendly pub with a great atmosphere. As I am a larger drinker along with my friend we were surprised to find an excellent larger on offer at the Bell Inn. It was really good! This is mostly a real Ale pub with a massive selection on offer at very good prices. The Bell Inn is also a very clean and tidy pub in a good state of repair for an old building. The Landlords here are excellent which really made our custom feel appreciated. It’s good to come across a pub that is looked after by the owners and also sells really good drinks at reasonable prices. We will be returning.

After a wonderful holiday in western Ireland, the only downside of which was the monotony of the keg beers available,I was really looking forward to getting back to Launceston and the incomparable Bell Inn with its ever changing array of superb ales. I was not disappointed (no surprise there!). I thoroughly enjoyed five excellent beers amid convivial company. I could have sampled the sixth ale onioffer but felt an element of restraint should be shown on my first night back. The beers, like the ever growing band of regulars, are predominantly from Cornwall and Devon with interesting examples from many other parts of the uk.Visitors are always warmly welcomed. I first reviewed this pub when the current licencees reopened it almost exactly two years ago since when it has gone from strength to strength. Anyone who was here on St Piran's day

Whilst overnighting in Launceston last Friday I stumbled across this gem of a pub. A lovely historic building, offering a superb selection of local real ales, and with friendly and helpful licensees. A relaxed and friendly ambience inside, and competitively priced.
Although I believe that meals aren't served, there were wall signs offering 'a pie and a pint' for a very reasonable price. I was informed by regulars that these were excellent.

To be honest, it doesn't have much competition, but this recently refurbished establishment is a traditional pub, decent, well looked after beers and ciders. No music or TVs, just a welcoming old fashioned pub.
Excellent!

Do you do accommodation? GBG and WhatPub both have the symbol for it but can see nothing on website or Trip Advisor.
