A very fitting memorial to a great man and remembrance of the SAS and their contribution to various operations during the war. To fully appreciate the memory of David Stirling you need to read the book "David Stirling"

I pass this somewhat windswept but evocative memorial often and still stop occasionally to remind myself of the fortitude, daring and ingenuity of that outstanding generation who stood fast against overwhelming odds. Minimalist but sufficient, the memorial site and the statue of the founder of the SAS could not be better conceived or placed.

This monument to David Stirling the founder of the SAS training regime is located between Stirling and Doune and is perched on top of a windswept hill overlooking benn Crainlarich and Benn Lomond. With a history and plaques for fallen soldiers. A fitting and touching memorial.

I had been cycling around this part of the world, and decided to take a look at the memorial. It is poignant and impressive. Well worth a visit to take in the scenery and reflect on what these men have done for our way of life. Some might say you even owe it to their memory.

Slightly off the beaten track, the Memorial is either a destination in itself, or is found accidentally ! Students of WW2 and military historians specialising in the creation and evolution of Special Forces will appreciate this very dignified monument to David Stirling, the founder of the SAS. Worth making a detour.

Drove past and then pulled in after realising who this famous person was. Being ex-military it was humbling to see the person that started what we all know as the "SAS".

We went past this monument half a dozen times and finally pulled in. It's in the middle of farmland, but it's quite nice that there is a memorial to this fellow who obviously led a stellar life.
