Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Incredible trip through geological history. Stalagmites and stalactites galore ,tight squeezes and then huge open chambers. Loved it.

We found the Grottes du Cerdon on a list of things to do within driving distance of Lyon and combined it with a stop in the medieval town of Perouges.

As did the previous reviewer, we downloaded the audio tour, but also were unable to access it once we were in the caves. I think there was a local wifi that might have been accessible in the cave (that’s the only thing I can think of that would have allowed access to the audio tour, other than physically downloading the podcast to the device). I do recall seeing a sign for the local wifi in the ticket office.

The audio tour webpages did contain text so we were able to read what we assumed was the script of the audio tour.

I think we were as impressed with the caves as the previous poster. Some areas were fairly narrow, but the middle portion was massive. It was cool in the caves (I think they said somewhere it was only 4C) and while we were fine in shorts and t-shirt, I would have brought along a sweatshirt if I had been prepared.

The length of the cave system is about 800 metres, and the elevation change is about 40 storeys, but it was not an especially challenging walk.

About an hour north of Lyon, the caves were a pleasant surprise. Our teen enjoyed it as much as we did. Absolutely massive, full of all kinds of cool formations, with lots of steps at the end (most of which can be skipped - there is a warning sign). At the entrance, there are 3 parking lots, a shop/cafe, and restrooms. There is also WiFi for downloading the app (obviously, no reception once you're down below) - the app does a decent job of explaining formations and cave history, but the audio didn't work for me in the cave, only the text descriptions did. I did see some people listening to the audio, though, so perhaps, you need to pre-load the entire thing before descending. The walking path doesn't require any special footwear, though non-slip soles are recommended. Cool, steady temperature year round, making it a great activity in any weather.

Three sleepless, jet-lagged lumps of human flesh, en route from the Geneva airport to our lodgings, stopped here to pass the time until our rooms would be ready. We were more than pleasantly surprised by the friendly, helpful staff and the rather delightful cave. Even though we didn't get to ride the little train, we got more than our money's worth. There is good food and drink, too.

The cave is really beautiful. It's unfortunate that the guided tours are init l only in French! Not even a short summary of what there is to see. So if you don't understand the language enough, I would recommend to go in yourselves and use the app or written guide. For a guided tour you can understand the price is reasonable. If you go by yourselves I think the prices are too high. The small train to bring you to the entrance of the cave is funny. It's only a small ride, but fun to do. The personnel is friendly. Do the second part of the tour, but it's tiring if you should have a bad condition and not advisable with elderly people or people with a heart condition.

We went with the kids to this cave and theme park. We were stunned by the enormous halls and beautiful stalactites and stalagmites. We did the tour with just a written guide so we walked totally alone in the cave. This gave an extra dimension to our visit. At the lowest part it was only 3degrees C then we came out to have a majestic view over the valley.
After a heave climb up we enjoyed the different activities like painting, pot making, lamp making.
A fantastic day out!

Pretty, well-secured caves! An hour's walk out of time, if you go to the belvedere to appreciate the pretty view, the return is a little tiring! But the whole thing is worth a look! fast food to quench your thirst or taste on site

These caves are a great discovery, a journey with a downloaded audio guide in a place full of surprises.
Recommended even with children, the course is not too hard
