About
We provide sit on top kayak rental during the summer months from April to the end of August. You do not need to know how to kayak to hire a boat and go out on the beautiful river dart in south devon. We cater for families, couples and groups and have parking, cafe, loos, and all boats/paddles and buoyancy aids.

Lovely 3 hour trip to Dittisham with family for a picnic and seal spotting. Contacting Mark with queries was easy and good advice given re tides and times. Both him and his son were very friendly and helpful, no fuss and 2 extra people accommodated at very short notice. Highly recommend.

Enquired about renting kayaks through the online form on their website and recieved response via email very promptly. We rented 2 double kayaks with 2 young children and had a great time! We were advised about the best times to go according the tide and also which direction would be most appropriate with little paddlers. Very picturesque and pretty stretch of the river.

Great experience. We were a party of 10. Hired 5 double kayaks.
Parked at the quay stoke gabriel, and met the guys who gave us a detailed map, told us about tide times, got us all life jacketed up, assistance getting into our kayaks, some of our party were complete newbies so we had a quick lesson and were off.
Great scenery, nice easy kayaking following the river.
The guys came out to test their new emergency boat, and took loads of photos which they airdropped to me once we’d returned. A great morning out and very friendly professional service. Recommend +++

Really friendly and helpful, explained everything we needed to know and gave us a map of that was easy to use. Getting in and out of the river was easy at each of the spots they suggested, including the pubs. We were in the water from low tide to high tide and it was worth doing at all stages of the tide. There was lots of traffic on the river but it was concentrated in certain areas, the main channel has loads of space and along the creeks we often found ourselves alone on a stretch of river. Parking was £6 for the day and was right next to where the boats enter and exit the water.

Absolutely fantastic service, great equipment and trip we kayaked to the maltsters had a brief stop for refreshments and then a leisurely paddle back to the quay at Stoke Gabriel

We really enjoyed this trip. Everything we needed, including dry bags for our things, was waiting ready for us. The route suggested was perfect and so quiet. Would definitely recommend this company. What a lovely place to visit

Our family of four had a fabulous 3hr trip in double kayaks up the River Dart. As near-novices to water sports, Hugh was great with showing us the ropes and setting us on our way. We meandered up stream enjoying the beautiful views and experiencing a river from a completely different vantage point. The riverside pub provided a chance to stretch our legs, before winding our way back to Stoke Gabriel. The cafe alongside the jetty provided a place to sit a while longer, and enjoy the life around the River Dart. I would highly recommend Totnes Kayaks, it was a perfect day's outing.

We were so impressed with Mark and his set up at Stoke Gabriel. What a lovely, friendly laid back man - he sent us off happily with our three double kayaks for a two hour trip down the river and we had such a fun time. Glorious weather in a gloriously pretty location and a very good experience for three generations of the family. We also saw him with canoes at the river near Maltsters pub and that looked fun for a group being guided by Mark too.

My husband was given a helping hand today to recover his 2 paddles from the mud at Stoke Gabriel after losing them yesterday.
He wants to thank the instructor from Totnes kayaks who assisted him in their recovery. Such a professional and kind man - thoroughly recommend this company.
