This temple is attached to an old existing temple and has an unusual effect. you are standind looking at the reflection of the bamboo and adjoining neighborhood in the water and below this image is a temple; much like other temples in Japan, but this...More

It’s called the watertemple. This modern temple, an addition to an excistent classical temple, is an place to be silent, to contemplate and to enjoy the brilliance of Tadao Ando. Worth the travel from Kobe. You can reach it from Shin Kobe and Sannomiya station...More

This is a different temple, designed by Ando. The concrete and vermillion-colored woodwork are unusual materials, and the design. including the meandering entrance and position under a lotus pond, is unusual. But I for one, was not moved. To each his own, I guess.

Ando is famous to play with your perception, his architecture always has the surprise element and this one does it to the max. You entered through the entrance not expecting much, then the pond emerged into your view, and then the stair case tasked you...More

Unusual and beautiful water temple designed by Tadao Ando. A very peaceful and serene complex, beautiful water lillies flowering in the water. To enter the temple you go down a flight of stairs in the middle of the circle of water. You have to pay...More

Stunning rouge interior design was found when you got near to the Shrine. And the electrical heated incense amused me while I was doing my prayer, soothing smell and peace environment with. A remarkable visit, the architectural design appeared elegantly before my eyes. It would...More

Amazing architecture again by Tadao Ando - you will take lots of pictures trust me! To visit the inside of the temple costs 400 yen, but the essence really is in the exterior.

I saw a documentary on this temple and promised myself to go and see it if I ever went to Japan. Had my chance in June and even though it was not easy to access by public transport and the signage was almost non-existant, I...More

Modern temple by Tadao Ando ... On one hand it's quite remote in style from the traditional temple at the entrance, on the other hand it does capture the quietness and play of dark and light of traditional temples. It is best to come here...More

The Westin hotel of course is accesble all the time. The adjacent buildings I don’t know. Off course you can see the gardens any time. The Hundred Step Garden is a highlight
