If you drive, there is car park near the lookout deck. If you walk, spare a day. Both works well. Hiking is excellent if the weather is good.

You can get here from/back to Unzen town for 6000 yen, but my family decided to walk. The first part (around 20mins) we walked along the road, but after that the trail turns into a trail which consists of steps which are harder to climb as we ascended. Nita pass is situated the saddle between the Mount Myoken and MT No, and the observation desk here give you a panoramic view that not only included Heisei-Shinzan but also all the way going to the Amakusa Island.

Only worth the trip if still at the height of the KOYO season, when the leaves turn color. There's a bus leaving on fixed times, 430 yen one way.
