Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

You can’t beat the cable car for a bit of fun!!
We didn’t know about this until on the train to Nara and heard the tannoy announcement. So we decided that on the way back we’d go for a look.
Buy a ticket to the top, and there is a small kids theme park, and some good views back to Osaka.
The trains are cute, as is the music played in the trains.

Just randomly decided to take it up and see where it would lead me. Was pretty cool with decent views on the way up

This is the Cable to Ikoma Mountain Amusement Park and Hozanji Temple. The Cars are styled after a Dog and a Cat. If you ask the conductor to make the sounds as they cross they will talk to each other. For those of you who are not fluent in Japanese cat and dog language the cat says nyao nyao and the dog says won won. Be sure to try to sit in the front seats for the best view and have your camera ready. This is one of the oldest cable cars in Japan.

The entrance of the cable car was easily accessible from Kintetsu Railway Station. This cable car is one of the oldest in Japan. I like the classic version more than the iconic cartoon ones.

How interesting to be so far up the hill that you have to take a cable car. It took me a little while to figure out the schedule.

On your way to the historic Hozanji Temple, take a journey on the oldest cable car in Japan. These little carriages are decorated like cat and dog cartoon characters and are fun to travel on and fun to see. Not so expensive and they rattle and sway along the straight, up and down tracks. At the ticket machine you can buy a return journey and the machine pops out 2 identical tickets, one for going up and one for the return journey. You can buy tickets at the top for the return journey, if you forget to buy a return. There are ticket collectors at the bottom station, but on the occasion we visited, there was no-one at the top. The carriages have a driver and are also controlled by a master at the top station. You can take the cable car to the top and walk down the hill, but it seems like a really long way for little gain. Worth a relaxing journey to a good view of Ikoma town and neigbouring region from the top of the hill.

With this cute little cable car you get up the mountain slowly and safely and can enjoy the view both upwards and downwards. The locals take this train to their homes, since it's a steep and long walk with your groceries otherwise.

This train ride is never not hilarious. Takes you to an amusement park on top of the mountain, but I get a kick out of the fact that this is also the commuter train for those who live in the area.
