This is a pilgrimage temple with the mountain and temple names of Fudarakusan Kannon-in, the 87th temple of the Shikoku Pilgrimage. It is a temple with a history of nearly 1,300 years, and is rare for a sacred place. It is a Tendai sect temple, and the principal image is the Bodhisattva Kannon, which is enshrined in the main hall and is said to be the best of the "Seven Kannon of Sanuki Province". This temple also has a history of having its temple buildings burned down by a petty vandal and arsonist with ambitions beyond the scope of Shikoku. Here, due to her hometown, there is the "Shizu Gozen Shaving Tomb", where Shizu Gozen is said to have buried her shaved hair when she became a monk. Everyone takes pictures of the large Kannon statue standing right next to it, but the Shaving Tomb is the small Gorin-to on the right side. In addition, in front of the Niomon Gate, there are two "Kyosho", which are said to have been built to mourn the victims of the Mongol invasions, and are built on both sides of the approach to the temple. The temple grounds have a vast square in front of the group of temples and pagodas.

Here you can see the tomb of a woman named Shizuka Gozen. She was the lover of Minamoto Yoshitsune, and after he died she entered the religious life here. The grounds are very compact and beautiful and the carvings inside the roofs are stunning. You will see an image of a broom on the front of the main temple. I was told that this is to sweep away your bad luck. This small temple grounds has gorgeous trees as well. Recommended!!
