My first place of visit has to be Amanohashidate View Land. A discount of ¥150 from the usual ¥850 lift & monorail round-trip ticket was given upon showing my JR Kansai Hokuriku Area Pass on request. Took the chairlift as you needed to wait for...More

Located on the south-western side on Miyazu Bay. It is a very quiet and peaceful part of Kyoto Prefecture in winter. Perfect and easy 45-min walk along the peninsular's sand bar. Alternatively you can take an excursion on a speed boat around the bay.

The sandbar is delightful either for a 20 min bicycle ride (which we opted) or a 45-min? leisurely stroll if you have the time. We would recommend the bicycle-ferry combo from the ferry company. Ride from Amanohashidate to Miyazu side and take the ferry on...More

The view was nice. If time permits, it is also good to walk on the sand bar (45 minutes one-way). It was a peaceful and relaxing walk. Looking at the transport costs, I thought it was better to visit Amanohashidate en route to somewhere else.

It's a nice place to visit, given it's one of the three most scenic spots in Japan (ref: the other two are Matsushima and Miyajima). It's the by the seaside and you can enjoy the less-crowded part of Kyoto. However, there is no night life...More

Was awesome walking along such beautiful sandy beaches. Definitely some Japan's finest. If given the opportunity try to go to the nearby waterfall too.
