Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

popular spot for autumn in west Kyoto.
need bus or cabs to visit, but it worth to visit.

Tunnel of leaves and photogenic temple halls.
it is great for spring season, and free admission.

A very nice spot to view the beautiful fall leaves in Kyoto. Take JR to Nagaokakyo Station or Hankyu train to Nagaoka Tenjin Station, then take bus no. 20 or 22 (bus fare was 170yen) and get down at 旭が丘ホーム前. During autumn season, there will be special bus arrangement to the temple directly.

Although crowded but this place was very photogenic with the autumn leaves. The most beautiful view you will see is the hundreds of maple trees line the walking trails on the exit. Definitely worth a visit!

This temple is a famous tourist attraction for Momiji. However, I would recommend you to go there during green seasons in the months April, May and June. When you go there, you will see hundreds of beautiful trees and you will enveloped by the greenness surrounding you. You will feel refreshed in mind and body. In addition, this temple is so quiet. Anyone looking for a place to heal will find this a treat. Kyoto has a lot of great temples and Komyoji is definitely one of them!

Obviously, from the number of Japanese maples around, it is to be view in the Autumn. Cold comfort for me going in May as simply green, green and more green. I'm sure it looks great in season, but otherwise it's pretty ordinary and can be missed.

This is a place where you can admire the autumn leaves.
The temple grounds are one-way, so I recommend planning your time accordingly. It was beautiful ☺️
