The site was around 30 minutes of drive away from the Nakatsu Station. I took the city bus and the fare was 600 yen one-way. The scenery was nice. However, the story of the cane was very meaningful. A monk built the tunnel with his bare hands to save people's lives and time. Having said that, please be very careful... More

It was s great story to hear about how one person created the tunnel. We saw it from a distance then drove through it. I wished we had more time to walk along the road by the river and through the tunnel. Very interesting,

The tunnel itself is pretty impressive considering it was hand made long ago. The koi ponds which are a part of the river near the tunnel is good as well. Pay A small fee to feed the koi! Apparently there was more but they got washed away in a flood.
