About
Shiramizu Falls is a registered National Monument and the waterfall and its surroundings have been selected as one of the 100 most scenic spots in Oita Prefecture. This majestic waterfall, 72 meters high and 8 meters wide, cascades down the cliffside surrounded by virgin forest, resulting in a spectacular natural scene. It takes about 15-20 minutes to walk from the Meisuichaya parking lot to get to Shiramizu Falls. The surrounding trees usually begin to change color in early October, and by the end of the month visitors can enjoy a lovely combination of autumn leaves and the beautiful waterfall. Access: 15 minutes by car from Bungo Ogi Station
Duration: 1-2 hours

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We didn't expect much so was pleasantly surprised by this huge waterfall. We walked on the suspension bridge and took photos of the fall. Awesome!

Hi, we will be staying in Shirakawago, travelling with public transport. How can we get to the waterfall? Thanks.

Shirakawago and this place are very far. The names are similar, but they are different places.
