Kids loved the "animal world" there
Jul 2018 • Family
We paid for the entrance ticket only (800yen for adults) not the day pass (around 2000yen for adults) to see first what it's like inside. It was really small inside and had two floors--the second floor has the free entrance theaters (and -5C simulation and 4D theater which you have to pay 300yen unless you have the day pass) and open area with a big interactive screen, some stuffed animals and the first floor has photo booths (free but you have to pay to print the photos), a photo studio, an area to learn about insects (day pass), and a theater that was showing the Kenyan elephants (day pass).

My kids enjoyed the "animal world" where they had animals like chicks, rabbits, hedgehogs, a lizard, owls, a turtle, hamsters. You can touch some animals and feed the chicks. This was the highlight of the trip.

Educational but small

There were about 5-6 interactive displays and a theatre which run continuously. There were a few English explanations which we can understand, be educated, and enjoy. What my 13 year old nephew like most would be the of -5 C simulation.

Could be better, but was good overall.

As a parent, compared to the crowded shopping mall and eateries, the orbi was a nice place to slow down a bit and relax. Orbi is a bit like a science center, but not quite. The shows or mini projection films were nice, but not extraordinary. and most of the films had English subtitles. Being a less popular place to go, it was not crowded and the place looked as good as new. Admission is not cheap, but I hope some contribution was made to the wildlife or environmental fund.

If there was more of a message on conservation (Taiji dolphin slaughter) and more innovative exhibits this place would be worth visiting alone, but as it stands it's a place to go only if you happen to be coming to this area for something else.
