時は 、元亀元年（1570年）6月の頃 信長に離反した朝倉が浅井と
共に姉川はさんで布陣して 織田に加戦した徳川の突破より朝倉の撤退
浅井の敗走に至った地 河岸に桜並木が武士の魂の彷徨を治めるように
咲いていた。 これが小谷の里の平定にに至り 比叡山の焼き討ちの
元になった歴史的な場所は 田畑の広がる中 伊吹から流れる姉川の
朗々たる流れが物悲しく感じてしまった。
場所は車でしか来られない場所 看板が出ている古戦場と
石碑だけの２か所あり ともに桜葬なのか桜がその場所を
表していた。
ものの試に長浜の盆梅展と合わせて来られるのが良いかも
しれません。私は毎年金糞岳にフキノトウ摘みに行く序でに
寄っております。

今から約450年前の元亀元年、信長による上洛説得を拒否する越前の朝倉景義攻略にあたり、信長とは親戚関係にあった浅井長政（妻＝信長の妹/市）が朝倉氏側に付いたことに端を発した合戦です。
家康等も加わって姉川を挟んで攻防した織田・徳川VS浅井・朝倉の戦に発展し、信長にとっても手ごわい一戦となったようですが、結局信長側の勝利で終結します。
滋賀県長浜市を流れる姉川の野村町付近の川原と言われ、現在は川原近くに合戦を語る説明板と戦死者を合祀する石碑が立つのみですが、天下取りのためには手段を選ばなかった信長の、残忍とも言えるエピソードを含むその後の戦歴にも影響した戦跡の一つでもあります。

琵琶湖に流れる姉川での戦国時代の戦いです。小谷（おだに）城主浅井長政は、織田信長の妹お市の方を妻とし、織田家と同盟を結んでいたが親交のあった越前の朝倉氏を、信長が攻めたことで長政との間に確執ができた。
姉川の合戦は、最初、浅井・朝倉軍が優勢でしたが、徳川軍によって朝倉軍が後退したため、力を得た織田軍も総攻撃に転じ、浅井・朝倉軍は小谷城へ敗走した。
姉川は血で染まり血原（ちはら）、血川橋（ちかわばし）という地名が残っています。合戦の3年後、長政は小谷城を包囲され、28歳で自刃した。

小谷城の跡の近くにある古戦場の跡地です。織田側と浅井側の配置がわかりやすく絵になっています。小さな跡地だけど歴史がたくさんあります。信長と秀吉、家康と盛りだくさんな古戦場跡です。

道路の案内はあったが、行きすぎてしまい、
スタンドで聞いて少し戻ったというところ。
期待していなかったが、予想通り、7-8mの囲いと碑がある程度。
浅井歴史民俗資料館などで陣構えや場所を見て後からどこで戦いがあったのかわかった。

姉川や河原からはその当時を想像するしかないのですが、橋のたもとに姉川の合戦の石碑や説明板があります。両陣営の布陣の図などもあり興味深かったです。浅井は小谷城があるのになぜそこから打って出たのかなど疑問も湧きました。

色々と事前知識があったので単なる石碑だけの古戦場でも感慨もひとしお、と云ったとこですが・・。昔は北陸と近畿を結ぶ要衝の地として勢力争いが何度もあった場所です。まさに強者どもの夢の跡、と云った場所でした。

小谷城跡から関ヶ原古戦場までレンタカーで移動する途中立ち寄りました。国道の近くなので、場所がとてもわかりやすく、行きやすかったです。
とても有名な戦いの古戦場な割に、実際の場所は石碑と看板があるだけの、草が生い茂る小さな川の河原です。当日は、その川で鮎漁をしている人を見ました。言われなければ400年以上も前に激戦があったとはとても思えないような、とてものどかな光景でした。
公共交通機関のアクセスはあまりよくないので（路線バスは一応あるようですが…）レンタカーがおすすめです。

今回は、安土桃山時代時代中心のお城と戦跡を見て回りました。
小谷城に行く途中に姉川古戦場に寄りました。
碑がポツンとあるだけで、姉川は草がぼうぼうでした。
古戦場も案内があまり無く分かりにくかったです。

羽柴軍が陣取っていた横山城址から自転車で30分、姉川合戦に向けての織田軍陣跡（茶臼山古墳、15年11月現在は入場禁止）から自転車で10分のところに古戦場があります。国道365号線から少し奥まっており、また跡地は碑が建っているだけで周囲には土産物屋等があるわけでもなくわかりにくいかもしれませんが、その分静かに昔を偲び、川を眺めることができます。
