A half-day driving trip with incredible views!

We were in awe when we arrived at this valley. Truly impressive sight. We stayed at the Iyaonsen hotel which offers spectacular view of the valley. Highly recommend.

Michelin guide ★★ spot. "Hinoji shaped Valley" looks like the hiragana character "ひ(hi)", where a ridge is located in the middle of Iya valley. This is an example of a scenic beauty accepted by the world.

The view along the way from Oboke station to Iya Onsen is stunning. The landscape is eye opening is worth the trouble of getting there.

we were there during spring. while it was all nice greenery, i dont think the view is that impressive for one to drive up all the way. luckily for us, we took a bus tour and not self drive. i think it will be more pretty if you visit during autumn

The drive to Iya Valley was nothing short of stunning. In fact, we were already very blown away at how beautiful the entire place was when we were at the Oboke and the Koboke Gorges. You may choose to ride a sightseeing ferry for more views. We then painstakingly drove up the harrowing winding roads to the Manneken Pis Statue,... More

We drove to Iya Valley on our way from Kochi to Takamatsu, taking route 32, and avoiding toll roads. You save a bit of time going on the Kochi Expressway, but you still end up having to taking some windy mountain roads once you get into the hills. We took the expressway from Matusyama to Kochi, so we wanted to... More

We were a bit disappointed to see this very small statue. We drove 30 min from our hotel to see this statue and we were passing it without notice (so small) The road towards the statue are very narrow and winding (one car only) There is no parking space available at the statue and you can't have anything to drink... The tourist information in Awa Ikeda helped us to hide a taxi for a day trip. It starts and end in Oboke. We paid 25.800 yen. The drive knew what we wanted to see. We had a wonderful day. The Maneken Piss was the less interesting sight. We enjoyed the landscape, the traditional farms and the history about the Tairas.... More

I only had one full day there, and you need at least two days to do it justice. As other reviewers have pointed out, you need a car. I visited just 3 spots, which were: 1. Kazura-bashi: historical and fun too. This vine bridge (reinforced with steel ropes) is a faithful replica of the bridges that the people of Iya... More
