Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Bus takes nearly an hour. The taxi will charge astronomical amount for 20 minutes journey. This is the sore point. The views are as you would get in any area with mountain gorge. Fix the transportation so that many tourists can come and marvel this bridge.

The most accessible and popular vine bridge as you can access it by JR and also car. Just 5 mins from the parking lot and you will see a breathtaking view. The valley is beautiful and the bridge is one of a kind, one of Japan's 3 most peculiar bridges. Made of mountain vines at the Iya Valley it a really special experience to walk on it and enjoy the scenic views.

It is definitely worth a visit if you are in the Iya Valley area. You can take a bus from the Oboke station (not so frequent though) or via taxi, if you are not driving. It only takes a few minutes to cross the bridge, but it is thrilling as the gaps between the bridge are wide. It tends to shake when others are crossing it so do be careful. It is also near the Biwa waterfall, and there's an area where you can hike down to the stream.

The views are amazing and it's an experience unlike any other suspension bridge, so it was well received by our middle school children.
There were more gaps underfoot than I expected, and it shook quite a bit near the center, which was a bit scary.

It's open from early in the morning, so I recommend going slowly when it's not so busy.
There's also a waterfall nearby, and you can go down to the river, so it's perfect for a morning stroll.

It felt like a natural activity for our children, and it became a fond memory.

Small walk in nature with passage over this suspension bridge over a river
Possibility to continue the walk , with a small waterfall at the key.
Passage over the bridge could worry those who fear emptiness because we see the river between the wooden slats
Appreciable tourist activity for the nature aspect

Though quite impressive, it is not nearly as nice as the Oku-Iya Niju vine bridges. We had thought this would be better, but its pretty touristy. If you have the option to choose, go out to the other ones which are truly stunning and give this bridge a pass. (but the other bridges are pretty far out and the road to there is kinda scary.)

This is a 45-metres in length, 2-metres in width, vine bridge, reinforced by a rope made of vines. It is thrilling to walk across the swaying bridge, loaded with sightseers.

The manner of weaving and wrapping of the vines to create this bridge is very sturdy. I have been on other more "secure" methods and did not feel as confident crossing.

You get a spectacular view while on the bridge, but you are often crossing with many other visitors.

I always wonder why people are walking so slowly on the bridge and catch the rail so carefully, because it does not look so dangerous. But you will feel differently when you are walking on it, try it yourself.

We arrived on a Friday afternoon in mid autumn and thought we'd avoid the crowds by going on a weekday, but we were wrong. The huge, ugly multi-level parking area located just next to the vine bridge was full of group tour buses, whose patrons also filled the bridge itself, the souvenir shops, and the many little restaurants around the area. (I can't imagine what a weekend or holiday would be like). We felt like we were in mid-Tokyo crowds yet in the middle of nowhere in Shikoku. Just next to the vine bridge, about 15 meters away and running parallel to it, is concrete/steel vehicle bridge which on the one hand allows for great photo angles of the vine bridge, but also immediately takes away the feeling of adventure. Though the bridge did look pretty neat with its all vine construction, we didn't even bother paying the fee to be allowed to walk only once across it among the hordes of others. Later we drove a further 40 minutes deeper into the valley to the Oku-Iya Double Vine Bridges and were much, much, much happier with having done so. The Oku-Iya bridges are the complete opposite of the touristy "main" Kazurabashi here. Knowing that those bridges are available, skip this one and make the effort to go to Oku-Iya instead.
