Went here for a half day visit and was very surprised by just how many types of jellyfish and other sealife was on display there! Their building is very modern and the displays are creative and really take advantage of the jellyfish. Overall, a great visit if you find yourself in the area and perhaps even worth a trip up... Great day trip out to Kamo Aquarium. Admission is 1000 yen for adults. Bus leaves from outside the station. Inside Kamo easy to understand routes as well as some information plaques written in Japanese as well as English. There is a Explanatory Talk on how jellyfish are farmed. There are other marine animals too, so not all are jellyfish. It... More

Entrance fee 1000 yen for adults. Various displays: freshwater fish, marine fish & of course many jelly fish. 3 side shows: sealions, feeding of jelly fish (both only in Japanese but each last about 30minutes) and also feeding of seagulls (yep Pavlov's dog experiment with gulls: ring a bell & they flock in for feeding - no wow factor for... Great jelly fish display. Kids enjoyed the seal show. Highly recommend. Restaurant and ice creams were yummy. Much fun!

Didn't really want to visit it but went in when the sun got too hot. It was great! Great variety of jellyfishes that were mesmerising to see. You can get here from Tsuruoka Station via the Yunohama bus, but be careful as this line alternates between coming to the aquarium and another route. I took many videos of the jellyfishes... More

Kurage (jellyfish) are the big draw at Kamo Aquarium. The kuragetarium, as it’s called, contains a marvelous, extensive display of different kinds of these fascinating creatures taken from the waters around Japan and throughout the world. In addition, the aquarium contains tanks displaying a wide range of fish common to Japan (many of which find their way, either raw or... More

やはりクラゲがメインです。ふわふわ、ほにょほにょな動きがカワイイ。普段は目にすることのない世界が広がる。マニアック! Jellyfish is Maine as expected. The movement which is HONYOHONYO softly is pretty. The world which has no cases that I usually lay eyes spreads. Maniacal!

Very nice site and a wonderful explanation about how jellyfish gather their food. Unfortunately very little English. We were lucky to have our daughter with us, mastering the Japanese language. If you visit, make sure a Japanese language expert is with you.

Located on the seaside, it shows a wide variety of amazing fish and jellyfishes, a few seals in an outdoor pool included. 20 mins from tsuruoka city, 1000 YEN for adults. Has a small Japanese eat-in and souvenirs shop. Definitely worth an hour or two

On my way to traveling to Dewa sanzan, me my mother and wife decided to visit this aquarium. Our expectations were quite low, because its an aquarium in the middle of nowhere. But to our surprise this aquarium was quite good! This particular aquarium is small but it is famous for having the most Jelly fish in an aquarium in... More
