Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Really enjoyed this museum in the town of Hagi. Lovely Japanese ceramics plus some Chinese. Interesting to see the differences. Also enjoyed the modern artists they were exhibiting, in stone, metal work and lacquerware.
Friendly and helpful staff (google translate works very well). Great way to spend an hour or so.

I enjoyed the museum. It is filled with modern ceramic art in the permanent exhibit. Only cost 300 yen. There are also an exhibit showing how wood block prints are carved and colored. There is some detailed prints showing how a maiden would live and the arts she would do all of her free time. There is also really exquisite lacquerware.
I didn’t see the traveling exhibit that was held in three other halls. That was 1100 yen.

An impressive museum for a relative small city. We didn't get to see everything, but the rooms housing master works of 20c ceramic artists were of very high quality, and there were many creative modern art installations throughout. When there in May 2016 there was a very strong special exhibition of modern, cutting-edge medium to large ceramic pieces. It's all presented in an architecturally-distinctive modern building.

The museum is a collection of pottery works from various artists but initially for the works donated by Hagi born entrepreneur Toshiro Uragami. Hagiyaki Pottery is one of the most famous pottery types in Japan. The skills for making this craft was imported into Japan from Korea in the early 1600s. You will have pottery overload if you don't really admire the craftsmanship of these works.

Nice place, nice staff.
Be careful though, they say they show the whole collection of Hokusai prints, when in reality, it's just one from time to time.

The Hagi Urigami museum was a nice building.
There were incredibly beautiful and elegant works of art made of porcelain. Very dramatic and in great colors.

Does the museum shop carry the book on Jutetsu Miwa: A Retrospective? If so, is it possible to order it?
