As regular visitors for over 30 years, Attenborough is always amazing, any time of the year. Especially interesting off-peak or in evening. There are at least 5 great circular walks. 1. Red route takes about 1 hour. 2. Red route with footpath shortcut past the high-hide is about 50 mins. 3. Blue walk is more challenging and takes 2 hours.... More

Lovely walk with lots for young children to do and find interesting. 3. 7 miles of interesting and differing views etc would recommend it. We didn't go into the visitor centre though.

You're in a highly urbanised area and then at the end of a lane in a wild place. What a wonderful way to use exhausted sand and gravel pits! Really enjoyed the visit. It certainly won't be the last because this place has to be seen over all the seasons as the birds come and go. The water birds are... More

good paths around the nature centre and all are close to the water so you can see the wild birds. The café sells bird food for 25p a bag. we also made use of a coule of the hides which are well sited and offer good views.

I have been visiting Attenborough since I was a child when my father use to take me there to feed the ducks. I have followed in my father footsteps and taken my son. If you are expecting playgrounds for the children to play on this is not the place for you. It is wonderful place to feed the ducks and... More

we couldnt wait to visit Attenborough again we have always loved the peace and quiet and the abundance of wildlife we headed straight for our favourite hide ever and oh no the Kingfisher hide no longer has the bird feeding area no wonder it was empty we have always loved to sit and watch the little birds flitting about whilst... Love this place! So much to see and do, great food and lovely shop all reasonably priced. Good toilets too... We particularly like that there are different length walks so you can fit the needs of whoever you are with or what time you have, sometimes we just feed the ducks and watch the boats, sometimes we walk for hours.... Had two visits here recently - one with children and one without. Both were excellent days out. Lots of birdlife to see, hides, beautiful scenery, nice visitor centre (with café and wildlife garden at the rear), trains can be seen passing by and there are flat level paths throughout. Car park is a very reasonable £2 for all day. We... More

Unfortunately this nature reserve is totally spoilt by litter and dog mess. As regular nature reserve walkers, this is the most disappointing reserve we've been to. There is litter strewn all over and irresponsible dog owners have allowed the place to become one large dog toilet. It may have some lovely nature but we were too busy looking where we... More

Thank you for your review. We have noticed the dog mess problem has worsened recently and have plans to step up wardening are in place. As we are a nature reserve criss crossed with public footpaths and rights of way we cannot control who visits but we try very hard with our band of hardy volunteers to litter pick and... More

Needed a dog friendly way to spend a day waiting for the better half to finish a meeting, and stumbled upon the Attenborough Nature Reserve, what a find! Hours of walking and sight seeing, covered about 10 miles in total and the dog loved every minute.
