    Interesting facts
This little village has some interesting aspects. It is quite beautiful but of course also very touristy. The first interesting fact is that every house is open to everyone, neighbours and tourists alike. You can, even if you feel that this is a bit odd, wander into every house (or at least parts of it) and have a look around. Each house sells stuff as well. After the village there is a nice bamboo forest to explore. The second interesting thing about this place is that men here are not allowed to have a second wife. However, should he still decide to have a second wife, he must move to the very last corner of the village. As of today, nobody has got a second wife. The plot is still free.

An beautiful insight into village living
We were in Bali with a bunch of friend for some of whom this was the first time. Was looking to take them to an organised village theme place and chanced upon this. Some of the reviews did mention that it was a bit too touristy. I would say, so what? the whole village was so charming, spotless and clean. You get a tase of the village houses, temple and the complete setting with some handicraft shopping thrown in to help sustain the locals. Great concept for those who dont have the time to go explore by themselves and an opportunity to visit the inside of the compound of almost all the houses there. Loved the experience.

    Unique place
Very beautiful and unique. Every single house is connected to their neighbors and every single house has its very unique design. Although you need to pay to get into the village and although every house sell something, I think it is still worth of visiting this village. but if you want to buy something remember to bargain it HARD. we bought something which was 4 times more expensive than buying in shops...

Avoid shop but smile with the locals
A very pretty and tranquil street (if only you could get rid of the poser photo takers). Clean walkways and welcoming people. You see the same, same in every shop so don’t waste your money. Nice 20 minute stroll

    Cukup oke

Penglipuran a traditional Balinese village located in the Bangli Regency mountainous area of Bali Island.

This village is renown for being the top of sustainable tourism attraction in Bali, Indonesia, even the world.

We can see still preserved old-Balinese's land spatial formation on this village called Tri Mandala which consist of 3 parts named Utama Mandala at the north/top facing the mountain as home for the deity where the sacred temple is built, Madya Mandala in the middle as home for the humanity and civilization, and Nista Mandala at the south/bottom facing the ocean as home for the devil where the cemetary is allocated for.

Besides, this village is also famous to be a tourism village which mostly benchmarked for its cleanliness & tidiness and how its involved many of local small medium enterprises participation in the events annually held Bali.

So it is not a coincidence if thousand of tourists are continuously choose this traditional village as a must visited attraction in their Bali tourism bucketlist.

The village is beautiful, the food is cheap and the sales are good value. The villagers are very friendly and aren’t pushy with their sales. You can spend a lot of time here exploring every nook, I’d recommend going right down some of the alleys because there are hidden shops & Warung.
VERY touristy though, packed full I’d say, with annoying instagramers galore.
See picture for actual street full of tourists like me.
At the back is bamboo forest, with another restaurant just inside.

Definitely interesting to see the traditional architecture and way of life but don’t expect traditional handicrafts-they are selling the same things that you will see all over the island. Maybe my expectations were too high but I left very disappointed.

It feels like a bit harsh to write this, but this so called village is basically a big mall in local houses. It was so crowded and they were basically all trying the same things. Locals are still friendly but it’s not the vibe we were looking for.

we are very proud to be able to visit here, this is a village that is still very beautiful in the east of Bali, we are so amazed by the very beautiful views, clean with views of the temple for a moment in front of every house which is still ancient, the area here is still very natural, the air is so cool, so we were very happy with friends while enjoying a cup of coffee

Certainly worth visiting. Take your time to visit each house in the village and they have some unique things to offer you. If not just sit down for a drink in one of several boutique cafes in this village. Lovely
