As most American Military sites in Belgium, this one was difficult to find. We had a guidebook but still had to stop and ask for directions several times. We found that many people in the smaller towns of Belgium do not speak English, but we...More

The victors write the history, as Churchill told us. Why is it that there are no memorials to the Germans murdered by British and Americans soldiers, of which there were many? Why is it that no British or American soldiers were ever prosecuted for killing...More

The simplicity of this memorial to the 84 American soldiers who were executed by their SS captors at this crossroad at Baugnez on December 17, 1944 is as powerful as a large monument. Local citizens maintain the site with flowers, wreathes, and crosses. I was...More

Not as much left to see as I had hoped for, but you will want to stop here and get a "feel" for the massacre. Very pretty little town; very friendly people.

Just across the road from the Baugnes 44 Museum. This memorial is worth a visit after visiting the museum. Puts it all together.

This memorial honors the unarmed American soldiers who were slaughtered near the Baugnez intersection on December 17th 1944 by SS troops under the command of Joachim Peiper. The memorial consists primarily of a stone wall that bears the names of those who senselessly lost their...More

On our trip through the Battle of the Bulge area the one place that stood out to me was Bagneux crossroads, the actual massacre site of 84 American POW'S on Dec. 17 1944. I had seen versions of the massacre in movies and read almost...More

We walked from our nearby accommodation to visit the memorial. It is well done, thoughtful, and worth visiting either before or after the nearby memorial centre. It was a poignant visit in the snow.

Before visiting this memorial, you must go to the Baugnez 44 Historical Center, which is just a few hundred meters down the road. There you will get the necessary information about what happened at this spot.

If you are not looking for the monument, you might just miss it. It is small and simple. I was disappointed, thinking a more elaborate memorial for those killed was deserved. The names of the victims are on the wall. I was glad we stopped...More

You could easily miss this memorial if it were not for the rather sad US flag hanging limply and rather shredded from its post but once you take a close look it is a very moving place. All the victims of the SS Panzer Brigade...More

A bit disappointing that it is so close to the road, the GI's need a more peaceful area to be remembered. It was cold and wet when we visited in June, the conditions in Dec 1944 were far worse so a bleak area for a...More
