One of the most relevant Cluniac dependencies still in existence. The abbey with its stunning cloisters and rich historical heritage is well worth the visit. However while the abbey itself is fairly well known the hugely pleasant surprise was discovering Moissac. A typical little, quaint,...More

The Abbey and Cloisters are the major draw card in Moissac' old city. Whilst the Abbey is free to enter, the Cloisters cost 5 euro per adult to enter. The Abbey has a very ornately carved stone door entrance which is special, although it needs...More

This is a wonderful place to find out what the world was like in France over the last 1000 years. The museum tour via headset (in English) was easy to follow with the map provided. Present your pilgrim credential for a discounted rate.

We visited the cloister on the last day of a week in which we viewed many beautiful examples of Romanesque tympanums and cloisters, in varying degrees of preservation- however they all paled in comparison to what is here in Moissac- the sheer amount of art...More

I was recommended by the hotel Utreia Moissac (which is a very nice and convenient to train station accommodation) owner to go early for morning mass. It was only 2 other visitors in the church and the singing of nuns was beautiful and touching. The...More

On my first visit, I paid €6.50 to enter the Abbatiale St James de Compostella’s famous clôitre (cloisters), completed in 1100. They’re regarded as the most beautiful and best preserved cloisters in the world, an exquisite example of the best of Roman art; it’s a...More

In amongst a busy square, huge towering church. Worth a detour to Moissac especially as it’s the start of the canal des deux mers

The Abbey is truly amazing, it's free to go in the main church, and wonder around. you are encouraged to give a donation. The Cloisters and the small museum at the side of the Abbey do charge and entrance fee, not too expensive. it is...More

We are truly sorry of what happened to you during your visit. Inkwell, quill and paper were supposed to be only in demonstration, not to test. This shouldn't have happened and we made sure that it won't happen again.

The history and the architecture with the symbolic detail of the columns of the cloister are beautiful.

Visited with friends who live in Moissac, lots of history if you study stone carvings you will enjoy the Cloister, the courtyard is very impressive. They also have a reception area where you pay a small entrance fee and have the opportunity to ask questions.
