Beautiful looking area but somehow missing something
American Village is beautiful to look at and you can’t help but feel excited when you first visit it. Shortly after the excitement wanes, perhaps because it is not as bustling as Naha’s Kokusai Street. Shop mix is not exciting. It reminds me a little of Las Vegas when it lights up at night but it’s a little too artificial for me.

    Lively and Touristy
I assume this would be a crowded and fun place in the summer with beautiful beachside restaurants and bars. The area is filled with restaurants and stores with, yes, some kind of American influence. Western clothing, burger joints, with music blasting on to the street making this a lively and touristy spot. Some in our group found good sales and enjoyed their time here.

    Nice program
We visited the American Village in January 2024, on a Saturday. We took a bus from Naha Bus Terminal, it was approx 1 hour to get there. The American Village was a nice and interesting place with several stores and eatiries, like a small piece of USA. We enjoyed walking aound and checking our some shops. It was more like laid back day for us. Going back to Naha, we took the bus and we really hit the Saturday night rush hour, it took almost 1.5 hrs to get back. All in all, it was worth visiting this place but do not expect too much!

Stay nearby to get the most out of this nice place. Fireworks every Saturday night around 8pm!
We stayed nearby so every morning had nice walk to sunset beach. Great place to watch Sunset at 6:15pm. Shops mainly sells US/ Hawaiian style souvenirs, some Okinawa themed merchandise and v few arts and crafts. Good variety of local and western style cuisines. I found the Prices are a bit higher than other places obviously. Not many facilities for younger kids like playgrounds. More catered for adults

Kitchy Tourist site - worth a visit.
This is a large shopping/restaurant venue in Chatan. It is one of the closest group of takeout restaurants to Kaneda AFB and only a few minutes walk from several hotels along the beach. It seems like the Japanese caricature of what America would be like - very touristy. It is worth a visit but don't expect to be overwhelmed.

The title is actually all you need to know. Maybe Americans can see the charm of this small town, but I dont get why this is even considerd an attraction. It's just shops and some dodgy food options. It was part of my tour, but I jumped in a taxi after 5 minutes. I rather pay money to leave, than staying for free. It might have been a thing 60 yearys ago, but now it's just a bunch of crap.

Love this place and every time used to stay at the American Village which the location was in the middle of Okinawa and easy to access different areas.

Well.... I live an easy 10 mins away, so my july visit is actually like at least once weekly since 2021. It's super touristy buy can be nice from time to time as there is so much and stuff hidden up and downstairs and around corners so it makes it near impossible to see everything after a few visits. I am a foody so with plenty of that I happy with going.

Lots of good restaurants and shops, but hard to tell when things are going to actually be open. If you're looking for gifts to take back home, a great meal, or just an afternoon cocktail, coffee, or sweet treat, this is the place to stop by. Be sure to check out the walkway by the water, that's where some of the best eats and treats are, along with an amazing view.

Fun place to spend the day. Full of shops, places to eat and hang out. I like window shopping and this area had a good amount of stores. I prefer stores that carry local products, but you can also find lots of products from America. Easy parking.
