Historic, charmer, peaceful

The city is so small, but so nice and beautiful! You can walk in the stone engraved streets with historic buildings, buy gifts in the squares or in the “store street” or just chill in a quiet square, after a delicious lunch in any of the local cuisine restaurants.

Full of charm and history

Taking a walk through the historic district of this charming little town will be well worth your while. Sure Pirenopolis is known for its beautiful waterfalls, but don't forget to plan at least one day to explore the many unique stores and restaurants.

Quaint historic town for a day trip from Brasilia (combine wth waterfalls to get the most from the day)
Oct 2017 • Friends
This is a quaint and well-preserved historic town about 160 kilometres drive from Brasilia. Depending on traffic and road closures it could be anything from 1.5 to 3 hours (it took us 3 hours due to a road closure and detour, which according to our guide, are frequent).

The town is pleasant to wander around, and on a Monday in October it was quiet. The restored church is worth a visit, although check opening hours as I think it is only open from 2pm.

Some nice restos to lunch in and craft shops to browse.

There is also a river which looks very inviting, but you shouldn't swim in that as it is polluted - even though some people do... In any case, to get the most of the day trip try to visit some of the waterfalls nearby - not sure it is worth such a long drive for the town alone.

Crowded and noisy town

The historical center should be closed to the traffic.
With cars everywhere it's simply impossible to enjoy the visit... I had to visit at 7:00am to be able to appreciate this colourful little town.

Enjoy Colorful local arts and crafts

To be honest combined a stop here on the way to vaga fogo sanctuary. Found the town to be a charming, colorful array of arts and crafts shops filled with local handiworks and some strange items one could find anywhere in the world. Also very beautiful restored church. Really nice that it's all very walkable, accentuated by cobble stone streets.

Worth the visit
Oct 2016 • Family
It's a very cosy space, safe to go with family, the only thing that avoided me to give 5 stars are the price and the crowd.

Eclectic collection of shops and cottages

Picturesque historical centre, very easy to walk around and take in the colourful surrounds. Well maintained area, friendly people and no overt touting for business. Great for browsing and buying momentous, wide range of eating options.
