Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a lovely place to visit, we enjoyed having a swim in the gorgeous calm blue water. We saw lots of crabs on the rocks which was cool.
I think the levels of visitors depends on the time of year/day, when we went it was quite busy. I think it would have been very enjoyable if a little quieter.
It was free to visit, with 50 cents required to shower.

Watching the tide roll over the black rocks is truly a blessing. Pretty nice atmosphere, feels like a somehow touristic place, but also a secret one. I can't speak about the summer months though, as I was only here in early January. But still, we weren't the only ones visiting at the time. Didn't try the food, but the restaurant seems nice. Don't forget to go up the stairs afterwards for a much wider view of the natural pools from above.

The canteen was a real disaster, the wrinkled potatoes were potatoes to be fried due to their size, we cut them into 8 pieces, (if this is what they say to foreigners, how good we Canarians look, get the irony) on the other hand, the sea bass in sauce ( It is a salted fish that must be desalted before eating otherwise it is inedible) excessively salty. The grilled cheese was cold at the time of serving, and we are going to ignore the €3 for each mini jar of mojo. Without a doubt we will not repeat The worst €40 paid in all my years of vacation. I don't recommend it to anyone. And now we're going to talk about the attention of the waiters.

The very beautiful and cozy environment.....
If you want to have a beer or eat a snack or tapa, it's better to bring it from home.
Even though the bar has an opening time of 12 noon, the manager opens whenever he wants and gets upset if you ask him.
Quite unpleasant and impertinent.
At 12:30 p.m., we asked him what time he was going to open and he rudely replied that in 5 minutes or 10 minutes or 30 minutes, that he would see.
In San Andrés y sauces there are many other places to have a beer.

Some scoundrels from the chitinguito
Some truly unpresentable people. Bad manners, bad answers. After waiting an hour to eat the old food and it smelled very bad.
I'll never go back. If you don't want to work, let someone willing to do it.
The boss is a cocky and aggressive guy. Don't even think about eating there.
The pools are very good but it is better to eat upstairs in San Andres

A little too public for us, it did look amazing though.
Extremely steep walk back to the nearby town, almost a 45 degree incline all the way for a 30 min walk! Don't be fooled by guide books which say 20 min walk. Everywhere in La Palma as well as La Gomera is up and down long steep hills. Very beautiful however I thought I was fit until I went on this holiday!

The day we visited there were very few people there so a swim in the charco was a real pleasure. There was a lifeguard on duty and only a handful of tourists.
This place is much nicer than the typical hotel pools.
Unfortunately the nearby restaurant was closed so we had to go elsewhere for lunch.

During a previous holiday in Samos we also encountered those natural baths by the sea.
Unfortunately Charco Azul was a bit disappointing. You have 1 natural bath, there are changing cabins and toilets.
The shower no longer works, so rinsing the seawater from you is not possible.
Furthermore, it is only possible to lie on the stones, there is no possibility to rent a bed.
In short, an okay place to cool off after a day of hiking.
Or to swim more or less in the sea in a safe way.
But no place to spend a pleasant day.

The charco azul is built into the rocks and allows you to swim at a place where the sea can be particularly rough and dangerous to swim in. The day we went the sea was very rough. Waves were crashing over the wall of the lido and causing waves in the pool itself. I got caught by one of these waves and was thrown against the rocky side of the pool leaving me with a large bruise on my leg. So, not a completely safe place to swim. I think on a calmer day, it would be lovely. The pool is surrounded by sun terraces where you can relax and changing areas are also available.

Even on December 26th we were able to swim in the natural pools without being cold. It is free, there are four changing cabins and €0.50 showers. Nice activity for kids. You are just next to the waves.

Por favor, ¿alguien podría decirme si tiene un horario de cierre al público?
Muchas gracias!!

Definitely the Restaurant - but for the natural pool there were no barriers, doors or anything. Anyhow, no sure about the lightning.

Anyone tried swimming here in winter?
Going over for Christmas and wondered if it's sheltered enough to retain some warmth..

In April for me the water was too cold buy many people were swimming there. It depends on your temperature level tolerance.

hi everyone,, can anyone help me on how to get here using public transport from santa cruz?thank you :)
Written 12 October 2015
Hi myc91, you have to take bus (guagua) nr. 100 100 CIRCUNVALACIÓN NORTE, SENTIDO S/C PALMA, BARLOVENTO, STO. DOMINGO, TAZACORTE A LOS LLANOS. Please see on the website of lapalmamola for the timetable, but I saw they are leaving SC every hour. When arrived at San Andres y Sauces, you will have to walk during a few kms. Buen viaje :-)
