The beach is beautiful and it was worth walking down the hundreds of steps. Be warned that the road there is very LONG and even by Greek standards is mega rough. I've driven on these kind of tracks many times over the years but this one was really bad. When you get to the stage where you think.. I may... More

We took the boat trip rather than risking our rental car on the rough road out to Balos Bay. Despite being a lovely location, the area was crowded with all the tourists arriving at the same time by boat. There are few facilities. We would have liked more time at the beach and less time at the castle which is... More

The road to get there is totally a dirt road, but the effort really Worth. Walking down to the lagoon and beach is a great view, one of the bet I have seen in the mediterranean. The water is very clear, and the hill starting from the lagoon is beautiful. I suggest to ride there rather then taking the tour... More

The beach is beautiful and all, the trip by car on the unpaved road and then many km by foot is torture, having in mind the hot whether and having no shadows on the beach. If you must go, I'd recommend going by a boat. I would recommend ratter going to Elafonisi beach which is much easier to get to,... More

We selected to visit this beach at first with a car. The road to beach parking is not so long in distance, but longer for driving. The road was good maintained in we enjoyed in the views. The parking place is not big, so it is hard to find a spot for parking your car. After parking you will have... More

Super touristy, but well worth it as it is big enough to escape and give some sense of a "blue lagoon" experience. Don't forget to take a couple of euro's to pay to drive on the dirt road, with rocks, and holes......

Amazing beach beauty suffers badly served. After a very long and bumpy road you will find yourself a nice parking lot of the beach, is in fact the starting point of a two-way trip and return to shore. Although a long way down, but not as hard as the way back. The beach itself lovely and worth the effort.

One of the greatest places I have ever visit. Amazing view, with great history and unbelievable water. You must visit Mpalos if you are in Crete.
