We took the boat from Kissamos to get to Balos Lagoon. When we arrived the view of the lagoon was stunning. Even though the boat was full, there seemed to be plenty of space on the beach to relax and enjoy the amazing scenery. The water was warm and shallow, so perfect for families with children. There was more pink... More

Amazing views, Water so clear. Can not describe enough how beautiful thisnplace was. The drive seems long but its worth it. The hike down and up was easy enough if you are fit...

Visiting Mpalos is just like spending a day n paradise. Blue water, fascinating scenery and sun of Crete above you. The only problem is that if you visit it in July or August it is overcrowded.

Beautiful, breathtaking place. It was a fantastic day. The water is transparent, the sand is white and rose

Absolutely beautiful beach! I cannot recommend it more. But: The Passenger ferry is far too expensive at 22EUROs per person! And you have to stick to the ferry times: only a few hours on the beach! My advice: If you are competent driver and are prepared for a rather slow, bumpy journey (Around 25 mins), you can take the toll... More

Cannot understand how other reviewers class this as one of the best beaches. I have lived on Crete for nearly 11 years & there are many better beaches which are also better accessible. I love walking & have covered much of this gorgeous island but even the walk down to the beach, if you do not catch the overcrowded ferries,... More

The beach is beautiful and it was worth walking down the hundreds of steps. Be warned that the road there is very LONG and even by Greek standards is mega rough. I've driven on these kind of tracks many times over the years but this one was really bad. When you get to the stage where you think.. I may... More

We took the boat trip rather than risking our rental car on the rough road out to Balos Bay. Despite being a lovely location, the area was crowded with all the tourists arriving at the same time by boat. There are few facilities. We would have liked more time at the beach and less time at the castle which is... More

The road to get there is totally a dirt road, but the effort really Worth. Walking down to the lagoon and beach is a great view, one of the bet I have seen in the mediterranean. The water is very clear, and the hill starting from the lagoon is beautiful. I suggest to ride there rather then taking the tour... More
