The beach is fantastic, but to make the most of your day, go here early to beat the crowds so you can drive on the dirt road with less traffic. Once you park, you'll get to see the beach from the top, and then hike down to the beach.

Absolutely...totally...incredible place and view!!! Driving through the road of stones was more than Hell, but it definetely worth it!! The road was superb scray at few points, plus all the rocks fallen on it and all the goats walking around the car...but once you reach the parking lot you will feel a relief. BUT...!! Thats not all! You have to... More

Amazing views, warm water, beach chairs and toilets, def worth it when in Crete. We hired a car to get to here, parking can be scarce!

To get this beautiful beach one has to walk down the hill around 20 minutes, so be prepared for climbing up on the way back, save enough water.

You must see Balos - totally unspoilt and very blue :-) - just amazing on every level - no facilities on the island though so take what you need with you

After more than 2 hours of driving, 1 in a dirt road, we arrived - late - at a parking full of cars. Then we had to walk for another hour in a downhill slide to reach the beach. When you first see it, it takes your breath away. On the day we went it was a cloudy September day... More

Our first choice was a walk down the Samara gorge, but at this time of the year it was closed. So we visited Balos, we were not disappointed, a short walk through the rugged landscape lead to a the viewpoint, and what a view. after the obligatory photos we followed the steps down to the beach. The clear and warm... More

I went there with my husband in august this year and is a great adventure but absolutely deserves. You must walk an more than an hour going down but after you see the incredible view you will want to stay there forever 😂 the beach is sandy and is not windy like elafonisos beach. This balos is not so busy... More

Beautiful sandy beach with crystal clear turquoise waters. The shallow lagoon waters are warm and fun to wade in. The road to the trail is potholed; one needs to drive slowly but it is entirely passable. the trail from the parking to the beach is 2 km long, easy on the downhill side a little les uphill. It is certainly... More

Really beautiful beach, stunning view. But a bit hard to reach, the orgnanized ship one day cruises are quite expensive 30Eur per a person I think.. the cheapest way how to get there is by a car, you will pay only entrance fee to the reservation 1 euro per a person. But the road is quite in a bed shape,... More
