Pretty church in Penafiel town . The views are amazing from up there maybe better than church itself in the area there is bigger prettier and way more important cheurchs but still nice place .

When arriving into the city of Penafiel one of the first things you will notice is the “Sanctuário do Sameer” who is located on the highest point of the city. You arrive by a long street plenty of trees, just look around on this street for a parking place for the car, and when take it, because it is not easy to park next to the Santuário who is also known under the name “Sanctuario de Nossa Senhora da Piedade” and who is never the less one of the most famous locations to visit in the region. This sanctuary has being built in the end of the XIX century, and has also a nice park surrounding the location from which you have a wonderful view over the city of Penafiel, as conclusion of this location we can say that it is made with a unique arquitecture.…

So beautiful, takes your breath away. Stands proud overlooking Penafiel.when lit in the evenings you would think you was in a large European City. Beautiful architecture.

The church sits on top of hill overlooking the valley. It is a modern catholic church set in a lovely park.

The gardens are quite pretty and you do get amazing views. The buildings, walls etc are a bit run down but still very pleasant
