The cemetery in Tulcan is probably the border town's main attraction. There is an extensive structure of topiary that lends a green, and often whimsical, flavor to the cemetery. The cemetery is well-worth visiting to see the funny green characters. It is an interesting combination...More

Eerily walk among the Dead and witness the Living landscapes that appear to have come alive from emotions of those carefully placed to rest here .

The cemetery at Tulcan is well worth a visit if crossing the border at Rumichaca. Cemeteries in Latin America tend to put ones in Europe to shame but this one is something else. The gardens and hedges are peaceful, beautiful, charming and unique. A lovely...More

This cemetery is famous for its topiary, and rightly so. We wandered the grounds for about an hour. Surprisingly about one third of the topiary seemed to not have been maintained for several weeks, with stray branches making the topiary seem to have a beard....More

Nice walk after a 12 hour bus ride. The shrubs are interesting. If you have time to kill its worth stopping in. Can't beat a free attraction

If you are somewhere around the border between Colombia and Ecuador just take one hour to relax a bit in that lovely place. You won't regret. It is very clean and calm. The green figures are accurately cut off the bushes and they look really...More

This is a fascination place to visit if you are in the area of Ipiales, Colombia. You can walk across the international bridge and catch a taxi to the cemetery. The sculpted hedges are a work of art. There is also a section for veterans.

Thanks for info. Have decided best do the day tour from Ipiales to Tulcan. If you have hotel suggestions after your return that would be helpful. I am not going until April next year.
