Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Like all places of faith in my opinion it ended up becoming too commercial with sales of saints and various gadgets all inspired by St. Francis. But beyond that the place is still worth a visit. Nestled in the mountains a few kilometers from Paola you can breathe air full of mysticism. The old church is very beautiful and also the new one totally hidden in the mountainsides has remarkable architecture. Loaded with meaning the path in the surroundings that crosses legends and stories that tell the life of the Saint. Recommendation definitely the sunset visit even more beautiful with the sun diving into the sea

Mystical place, I had already been there as a child but returning I remembered many little things about this place that had remained unchanged over time.
It is definitely worth visiting the place where San Francesco da Paola worked.
The river that flows right under the church, with the bridge, the underground, the new church and the whole complex make the place very characteristic.
The fact that both the internal parking and the entrance to the church are free makes the place even more accessible to everyone.

the group of 24 people from Trieste accidentally found a friar who accompanied us around the historic monastic complex and the new church. It was a leap into a parallel dimension of intense spirituality felt by the entire group of elderly people. Don't miss a visit to the new church with beautiful and compelling works of art.

In Paola there is this sanctuary dedicated to St. Francis of Paola
It has ample free parking and entrance to the sanctuary is free
There is to visit the three stages si San Francesco where you can see the river, po the small church with relics and finally the large church. Then there is the possibility to take a siesta along the steps leading to the river. Present bar and bathrooms
Peaceful and serene atmosphere.

Well-kept sanctuary with several internal churches and crypts. Very suggestive the underground part where it is there were the first places of the Saint. Beautiful to see is also the nearby River Isca that flows at the foot of the Sanctuary. Ample free parking. It was a great discovery. To return.

Easily accessible from SS18. Good place to visit if you want a break from the sun. Can be viewed in 1-2 hours. Main parts are easily accessible. A local saint and can be busy at peak periods.

We drove along the sea coast, finally reaching the town of Paola in Italy. Driving through the streets were so impressive with every turn. Amazing sculptures, beautiful arches leading down a picturesque road. We finally reached the santuary, & it was amazing. Tucked in the mountain, was this awesome place, with lots of history. A must see !

Spent a relaxing couple of hours here, mass was being conducted which was wonderful. Not too many tourists around so could wander around @ your leisure. Loved to see St Francis shoes & clothes which are in a shrine. Take something to eat especially around lunch time as nothing is open even in the square of Paola.

it's a breath of air, in the hot summer, all green, also some waterfall and a little river. The spectacular view from the top and the mix between new and old makes this place more interesting. The new church has an interesting architectural style.San Francesco is the protector of Calabria, so
don't miss it if you visit Calabria.

It takes every stakeholder back to the past while following the ancien path and caves where St. Francis lived his holy life.
