A great place for mud and fun! We live locally and had a party for my daughter at the bear trail when it was newly opened - it’s only got better! Useful updated shower facilities …. Wear your muddy stuff & take dry stuff - you can wash down in the huge shower block and change into your dry kit - taking no mud home with you! 🤣 lots of tables to set your bags on, have a coffee or fill up with proper pizzas, cheesy chips or a snack … the staff are so helpful and relaxed, it all adds to the reason you’re there, get muddy and have fun! If you’re looking for a country cafe to have afternoon tea, this isn’t it … but if you want somewhere for the kids (and adults!) to run free and get muddy for hours - bear trail is your place!! Thanks all for a great time as always!

This was our first visit, we had a good time but felt it was lacking in enthusiasm from some of the staff. One staff member in particular seemed very disinterested and unfriendly, others did make an effort though. The indoor changing area is a great space, but both the toilets and changing rooms could have been cleaner. Mud smeared and splattered over the inside of the cubicles which appeared to have been there for some time. Not a big issue in itself, it's only mud and you get covered in it as expected! But it contributed to an overall feeling of a general lack of pride and care.
The course itself is OK, the equipment looking quite tired in places. The cafe is limited, no fresh cakes etc... hot drinks are expensive for their size. The cheesy chips were definitely a hit though. Overall, I wouldn't hurry to return, but at £9.95 per person it's a relatively inexpensive and unique experience. The 3 hour session is more than adequate, most people were done with the course after an hour and that's going round multiple times.

Oh my goodness, what a fantastic day out, I'll be honest as I was a little sceptical when I arrived, but there was SO much to do, Frere is loads of different assault courses for all ages and abilities to go on, and really reasonably priced for a day out, you get absolutely filthy. But it's the reason you go there, my youngest always manages to find water wherever we go normally, so having free reign to do it all made his dream come true, showers are warm and changing rooms are tidy and accessible too, staff really friendly and helpful, and well worth a day out.

I had pre booked the bear trail months ago and we were all really looking forward to it , however the weather really wasn’t on our side we attended during monsoon storm like conditions. We came with the Attitude of let’s just get on with it , however having two younger children with us who got very cold and upset rather quickly did ruin the experience for us :( it is a shame we were not able to reschedule under the extreme weather conditions , it simply was not “just raining”
After having a very horrible long drive up from Plymouth we did leave disappointed however this really was not at the fault of the bear trail .
The staff were very friendly and really tried to make the experience fun .
The trail and facilities look amazing and I’m sure we will love to come back again and give it another go. Family of 4 .

We decided to take the children to the Bear Tail . Colour bomb
What can I say it was absolutely amazing the children aged 7-16 (9 of them all together) and grandad did the course while myself, my daughter and sister all walked the course watching them .
It is an assort course with lots and lots of mud .
You will need a change off clothes and showers are available so take your shower gel . There is a covered area where you can sit and have a coffee or some food . (Chelsey chips and pizza )
You get 3 hours so you can do the course then just go back to any part you like . We had a great time and will definitely go again .

We attended yesterday, my family had a brilliant time. I however broke my leg. I went down what turned out to be a kid slide a little too fast and landed weirdly. Only my fault but this is why you sign a waiver before you attend! Haha
The rest of the family had a brilliant time and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The site was clean and well looked after. The downside was the changing room floors were soaking wet so you really had to be careful with your clean, dry clothes.

I am 71 years old and I can hear with my two daughters, one partner and six grandchildren aged between 16 and 7. Had the most fantastic afternoon. Haven’t laughed so much. Well organised. Would thoroughly recommend to everyone.

Fantastic muddy fun at the Bear Trail yesterday! Kids had so much fun, as did the parents. SO much better with the new faculties - hot showers and changing cubicles. Also reasonably priced food/drinks on site and friendly staff. Good length session, plenty of time to play on everything and get absolutely filthy plus eat and shower. Would recommend and will be going back soon for another visit.

We had an absolute blast on our afternoon visit to the bear trail. We all took part and got muddy from head to toe. We all loved every minute, and laughed so much. From 3 to 43 years old, smiles all round. We would totally recommend a visit.

What is the suggested age range for kids? We have a 2yr old and aren’t sure if too grown up for him!

Hi there, The Bear Trail is suitable for all ages. Your two year old should be fine to tackle most of our obstacles, with a bit of adult help of course! We have a fantastic new mud slide that's proving very popular as well as Cubs Corner for younger ones.:)
