- Judy RDevon, United Kingdom44 contributionsGreat experience for little onesI took my 18 month old grandson for the first time. He had a blast, he loved it and was exhausted afterwards. So well thought out for them. Staff so lovely and helpful. The cafe has reasonable priced food and health options for the little ones too. Will definitely go again.Thank you for fantastic review - we really appreciate your kind words and can't wait to welcome you back again soon!Written 19 December 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited December 2023Travelled soloWritten 12 December 2023
- Megan E2 contributionsGreat experience for all!Such an amazing place to take children of all ages! We went with a 3.5 year old, 2.5 year old and a 1.5 year old and they all enjoyed it equally for different reasons. Our first visit was in December and we include the meeting with Father Christmas and the whole experience was so brilliant and not too busy, even at their busiest time of year. Also has a good cafe with good food and not overpriced like many other cafes at family attractions!Thank you for the wonderful review about your Christmas experience! - Sarah S15 contributionsAmazing Santa visitMy family and I visited one of the special Santa sessions at Bear Town. We had the usual 2 hour slot and had previously had visited so knew what to expect on a normal visit. However the Santa visit was so much better and really well organised. On arrival we were given a buzzer which would alert us to our slot to see Santa. The food and drink was themed around Xmas/ winter and was lovely. When our buzzer went off our good had just arrived but so they quickly rearranged our slot. The three children aged 5,3 and 1 as usual had a great time playing but the Santa visit was the icing on the cake. We were taken in by some lovely cheerful elves and the boys made reindeer food, which they were given to take home, and they saw Rudolph flying in the sky. Santa was lovely, the best I have seen recently. The children were amazed that he knew something about them( supplied by me) and were happy to talk to him. We then had a lovely photo of them all. The visit was finished with ‘ snow’ as we left. Thank you Bear Town for a magical 2 hours with my grandchildrenThank you so much for your wonderful review! - Kathryn I2 contributionsBrilliant 4th birthday partyWe held our 4 year old’s birthday party at Bear Town and they were fantastic. We hired the whole venue and over 30 children attended. The staff were friendly, organised and professional and the venue itself clean and exceptionally tidy. The children really enjoyed the food and the party table was beautifully laid out. We were able to relax and enjoy the party with our friends confident in the knowledge that everything was in hand.Thank you for taking the time to leave us such a brilliant review about your Exclusive Birthday Party at Bear Town! - Caroline NFayence, France9 contributionsPure genius!Pure genius! Whoever has come up with the concept of this needs some kind of high distinguished prize! I’m just so happy that we only live half an hour away and can visit again! My twins are 2.5 and had an absolute ball!! My only suggestion would be that they lengthen the sessions by 30 mins to allow for more time to play and use the cafe…. Other than than this place is amazing and I thank the owners for creating such a beautiful, special and thought out experience for little onesThank you so much for your fantastic review! - Jane WManchester, United Kingdom2 contributionsValentine day beartownHad amazing time at beartown yesterday. We went for the valentine's Day, each child on finding hidden hearts were given prizes. We had coffee and toast. My daughter is coeliac and had gf toast available, my grandson is dairy intolerant and df butter was supplied for him. Once again a lovely day out where you can join in with the children if you wish or they can go off and play safely by themselves whilst you sit back and relax with coffee. Highly recommendedThank you for sharing your experience at Bear Town! We're delighted to read that you had an amazing time celebrating Valentine's with us, and our dietary alternatives were appreciated. - Suzanne T2 contributionsEntertaining, indoor attraction for a couple of hours but be aware of hazards.I have given four stars as I believe it is Absolutely brilliant concept for little people to role play and interact with other children of a similar age. Our grandchildren really enjoy trips to this establishment which we have been attended since it opened & because we have been visiting for sometime a lot of the original role play equipment is getting very worn out and shabby. Obviously they get a lot of ware and tear & they have added items but stained and sharp plastic dolls fingers missing and sharp corners are hazardous so sticky tape that gets removed isn’t good enough therefore, supervision at all times is extremely advisable. I personally believe the cafe is expensive but I rarely eat or drink from these places due to me always taken aback & surprised by the price for a simple cup of tea etc.Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, it's great to read that your grandchildren enjoy Bear Town! Thank you for bringing this to our attention. The Duty Manager carries out a thorough daily inspection of Bear Town, and our Team Members check all items during the re-set of our Town after each session. Having checked through our records, the item you mentioned was immediately removed and replaced from the Town during the re-set after your booked session. We do always encourage our visitors to bring any concerns, to us during their session. We do hope to welcome you and your grandchildren back to Bear Town again soon!Written 4 April 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 14 March 2024
- Julia D8 contributionsLong journey but certainly worth it!My 6 year old son had one request this holiday and it was to go to Bear Town. We have only been once before and he loved it. It's clean, the food is good and reasonable. The 2 hours went so quickly and he didn't stop playing. The easter egg collection at the end was really well done. We travelled 1hr 40mins to get to Bear Town and my son is already asking when we can go back. The only negative is my 2 older children, 16 and 15 couldn't come along and see their family as they were too old to enter the building. I think this rule is a shame as at that age they would just sit at the table and not interfer with the play.Thank you for your wonderful review! It's great to read what a lovely visit you had with us for Easter at Bear Town, and you enjoyed the cleanliness, food, and role-play environment. To ensure a safe and secure environment for our youngest visitors, we have to strictly limit entry for children from walking up to 7 years old. Whilst we appreciate this does pose a challenge to some families, we have to protect our play environment for our youngest explorers. We've recently been twice, the first time sadly my little boy was hit around the head by a little boy with a wooden object in the supermarket section who was not being supervised. Shortly after I watched the same child do it to two more children, resulting in lots of very upset children. I went to find the parent sat in the cafe with other adults and explained what their child had been doing. I really hadn't expected this at a nicer attraction for the children.
The second time we went we were so shocked by the cost of the coffees, my friend had an oat vanilla latte and it was £4.50! She questioned it to be told that the oat milk adds on 50p and the vanilla syrup a whopping 75p! Sadly the coffee wasn't even nice. I understand charging a premium on the cafe items if adults were free, but you still have to pay for adults so this doesn't seem fair. We certainly won't buy coffees again which means we won't be buying cakes either.
The prices for tickets are expensive, and it seems a shame that you don't do a season tickets for locals. Pennywell do this where you still have to book your tickets online so they can monitor the number of slots being taken and it works so well. We go to Pennywell once a week due to having the season ticket. You could get much more regular visitors if you did this, even if it was a Monday-Friday season ticket or specific times that it was valid.
But based on our recent experiences and the cost we won't be visiting as much as we hoped to over the Christmas period.

It is really disappointing to read your review as we always want all of our visitors to leave having had an excellent experience.
We do advise that all grown-ups must supervise their children at all times, visitors are reminded at entry and there is a large sign at the entrance to the town reminding visitors of this.
I am sorry to read you did not enjoy your coffee, the coffee is from Roastworks just down the road from us in Willand and we regularly get compliments on the quality of our coffee. It is ground onsite form the bean to the cup, our pricing is inline with other barista coffee shops, we also offer a double shot as standard. We do value feedback and have reviewed the costs of our syrups and they have been reduced following your feedback to 50p per shot.
Unlike other attractions we are an indoor capacity limited venue, our prices are competitively set to reflect the bespoke, quality experience that we offer. Whilst we do not offer season tickets, we do offer a discount return and a drinks loyalty card offering great value for money.
If you have any further feedback please do let us know, we really do appreciate it. hello@beartown.co.uk

My rating is based on the 'host' of this place. The concept of Bear Town was absolutely amazing however, the 'host' was rude.
It was NOT made clear that the cafe and toilets would not be open before our play session so we arrived early in anticipation to use the facilities. Being a wheelchair user having a toilet and safe environment for my children to play and eat was paramount (not to mention the UNICEF's rights of a child). We were refused entry upon arrival and told I had to wait 45 minutes in the car park next to a main road with my 3 year old and 18 month old as it started to rain.
Standing with me was a person who wanted some information about Bear Town and waited by the front door to ask the 'host' a question. The 'host' visibly rolled her eyes as she approached the door and quie clearly turned to a colleague to say something and as she turned back around rolled her eyes AGAIN. The person asked for a leaflet to which the 'host' sharply replied "For what?"...Quite clearly he was asking for a leaflet about Bear Town.
Apparently the café was only in operation during the play session (of which I paid £25.90 for my children to play, not eat).
At the end of the session the 'host' tried to justify her actions when we first arrived explaining they had a "mammoth" task of tidying up (most of which was already done by parents and staff during the tidy up song).
Again Bear Town was exceptional in what it had to offer children, I just think the 'host' needs to evaluate the way she interacts with her paying customers as her actions created an unwelcoming environment.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on your recent visit to Bear Town. We appreciate your feedback and are glad to read that you found the concept of Bear Town amazing.
We do lock the doors between session times to allow the team to clean and reset the town and a sign is displayed asking visitors to queue for the next session with the start time displayed.
It does state on our homepage, in the first text box that "Our cafe is available for use during your session time only", this is also mentioned in the confirmation email every booking receives. We also mention in the confirmation email that “The doors will open at the start of your booked session time” and “We are closed between sessions, resetting and cleaning”. But, we will take your feedback into consideration as we strive to improve our communication.
Our team are all thoroughly trained in offering excellent customer service and our priority is always placing our visitors at the heart of what we do. We will of course investigate this incident to see if there is any further training we can offer our team, to ensure our visitors only ever have the best experience.
We do hope you will consider coming back to visit us again in the future, so you can continue to enjoy the fantastic attraction on offer.

Easy to find on the sat nav if never travelled to bear town before, arrived at our session time late due to traffic you can arrive anytime between your time slot which was ideal. Greeted by a lovely lady explained the rules (no shoes) big open room with Cafe so children can go and play in all different play rooms. My girls absolutely loved the hairdressers fab name poni & pie (Toni&guy) very clean great social distancing not jam packed with people. Best first time experience, more staff needed cleaning tables and floors after people had used them, lovely food and selection of snacks and drinks good prices. Noticed most of the staff not wearing masks and preparing food also, clearing tables no ppe gloves or apron

Thank you so much for your review. It is wonderful to read what a great first visit you had with us, we hope it is the first of many!
We appreciate your feedback and will follow this up to ensure all staff are following the guidance we have set out. We really value cleanliness, particularly in the current climate. We allow time between each session for a deeper clean. Our cafe staff are provided with aprons and masks which should be worn on the other side of the screen from our counter.
We do hope you will be back to visit us again soon!

Visited after our friends did the mud activity next door.
We booked online and as they didn’t have option for older kids I booked my daughter on as an adult (she’s 12 and clearly not interested as this is aimed at toddlers) so she could sit in the cafe while the little one plays.
When we arrived the manager was pretty stern on the fact that she wasn’t allowed on the premises. The whole encounter was extremely odd. Anyway, she let her in as a “one off”.
Unsure how parents can visit if they have kids older than 7? Very odd rule and surely it’s the parents call if they trust the child can sit in the cafe and be trusted not to play?
Anyway my son had a good time, was a little bored after an hour & 20.
It’s done very very well, details are great. Couple of toys are worn but kids don’t notice. The escape tunnel from jail was popular & the gold vault.
Cafe was good, although didn’t offer food (other than cakes and packet kids
Snacks) after 130 which was a shame. The cake & coffee was nice though!
Due to having an older child I won’t visit again. But if you’ve just got littles then it’s worth a visit.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. It's great to read that your son had a great time and enjoyed our facilities and attention to detail.
Bear Town is strictly for children from walking up to 7 years old and we do endeavor to make this as explicit as possible both on our website and booking site. We do not offer tickets or entry for children aged 8-17 years, this is to ensure a safe and secure environment for our youngest explorers. Whilst, we appreciate this does pose a challenge to some families, we have to protect our play environment for our youngest visitors.
If you have any further comments please do let us know, we really do appreciate it.

After spending £50 on tickets and £20 in the cafe today, the visit was ruined as I was confronted by the Manager. After buying some coffees, I was given a torn £5 note as change and because I'm not the kind of person to make a fuss or cause an issue, I just accepted it and thought it would be fine. When I went to pay for more food, I found that it had completely torn in half so I explained what had happened and gave it back to the polite member of staff behind the till. 10 minutes later, the Manager came and found me and I felt was accusing me of dishonesty. My young children who were nearby and friend were left feeling upset and shocked as was I. This was on Mother's Day! The lady threw the £5 note me and only left us alone because my friend went and gave them £5. I cannot believe how confrontational the customer service was in a place designed for young children and families. If the lady had came and spoken to me calmly and by my side, I think we could have resolved the issue respectfully. Very disappointing because this is a place I have been raving about to friends and family and have spent £130 at since January! Will definitely not be going back (had a trip planned with 6 next weekend) and suggest the lady consider how she talks to customers in future.

I heard about this place through a friend. I will definately be recommending to my friends with little ones. It is very clean which is unusual for this type of place, hopefully their exceptional standards will continue.
We visited as part of the father christmas visit but this place feels like a special experience anytime! My son is nearly 7 and I thought it would be too young for him but he still had the best time and enjoyed all the little themed areas.
I liked the fact that you book a time slot online so that numbers are controlled as it makes for a more relaxed atmosphere for the children and parents. I felt the staff have considered all the ways to make the place as safe as possible in terms of Covid. The little cafe is lovely too with lots of nice cakes on offer, didn't look to see if they have lunch options but for what we needed it was perfect. I wish this business every success as I think it is a fantastic concept and throughly well thought out from a parent/carer and child perspective.

Outstanding from start to finish - each area gave our three year old daughter a new adventure and the cafe seating was close enough for mum to feed our baby and feel involved.
The cafe was reasonably priced and served an excellent range of quality food.
It was great to be somewhere that catered for a toddler so well. We'll be returning with friends very soon.

What a fantastic play area. Our 2 1/2 year old loved all the rooms. There are separate play areas with dressing up clothes, tools and lots of space to run around. The cafe is part of it so you can have a drink and some food if you want it.
Each session is 2 hours long but that was enough, she was very tired when we left.
Everything looked clean and cared for and there were staff around to help with anything we needed.
There’s someone on the gate all the time so it’s a safe area to let the children and their imaginations run wild.
Would thoroughly recommend it for young children.

We went to bear town today at one of their Christmas sessions and met Santa. The whole experience was fantastic from start to finish! It wasn’t busy at all when we went and the staff there were so kind and friendly. One of the elves who we spent some time with before we met Santa was brilliant she gave my little girl the warmest welcome and immediately made her feel comfortable. Santa greeted my little girl by name and the experience had such a personal touch. The gift and free mince pie topped off an amazing experience which we will definitely do again next year! Thank you bear town!
