Twycross Zoo is renowned as a specialist primate zoo and has a wide variety of monkeys and apes including the UK's only group of bonobos. We have breeding groups of many endangered primate species so we often have babies and toddlers playing around in our orang utan and bonobo groups, and in many of our monkey groups. Set in more than 80-acres, we have around 900 animals of more than 160 species to see, including many native species in the Zoo's Nature Reserve. You can walk with our ring-tailed lemurs in their new walk-through enclosure; see our giant tortoises sunbathing in their new grass area and watch our penguins take their daily walk. Our keepers present regular talks and feeds where you can learn a bit more about some of our animals such as the chimpanzees, penguins and meerkats. Twycross Zoo's award winning Education Department offers a variety of discovery opportunities for many different types of groups and parties. The Zoo holds the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge, all sessions are curriculum linked and all are designed to best engage all age groups.

Visited Twycross zoo on cold November sunday so was interested to see if the zoo would be a good all year attraction. The zoo is famous for specialising in the care of primates and we found this to be true. There is a very wide range of apes ,monkeys, gibbons and lemurs to see , but other than primates the variety... Shame to only give three stars as had great day with family, but food as always was luke warm at best, anything to do with the animals looked run down, feels like they are now focusing on the soft play and events instead of the zoo. Know it's November and obviously off season, but entry is still the same price.... More

It's been a few years since I visited Twycross Zoo. I'm pleased to write that this was my most enjoyable visit. Quite a bit of investment has been going on since my last visit and it does appear to be a zoo on the up. Gone are the sea lions and replaced in the same enclosure, minus the water, by... More

This is a nice zoo not to big with it's main focus on primates, the entrance unfortunately right past a large soft play area and the main food court so it can be an issue to get small children past that though a nice touch is a large picture window onto a leopard enclosure(yes I know there's a leopard eat... We won a feed the penguins experience which we booked for 26th November but due to a system error we did not get to feed the penguins but the Staff could not do enough to apologies for the mistake and we have been invited back for a VIP experience which we are all looking forward to.

We love Twycross because of the space that most animals have. Also it is the only zoo in the UK to have every species of great ape. It was a delight to eventually see the baby gorilla, who I think was born in September. Had the weather on Saturday not been so good I doubt the Mother would have brought... More

The care taken with the enclosures is great. Seeing the gibbons at treetop level was amazing. We almost missed the snow leopard as it was right under our feet. The elephants were feeding and very entertaining. Feeding the lorikeets took patience, but then was well worth if when you had them land on your hand. The fish and chips was... More

After arriving at the main entrance to the zoo we walked up to the paying boothe, the staff member seemed very quiet and underwhelmed. After walking around visiting different enclosures we noticed that some of the monkeys (I forget which species) were shivering from the cold, many were performing manotenous tasks such as walking in circles or sitting and staring...
