A great place to visit, enjoy the serenity and calmness along with amazing views of the Himalayas. Mahatma Gandhi stayed at this place for 14 days when he visited Kausani and he penned his Anashakti Yoga here.
You can stay in Anashakti Ashram. Room rates are very reasonable. Charges are Rs. 451 to 651 Per Nights.

The whole ashram is dedicated to Gandhiji as he had stayed in Kasauni for quite sometime and this where he had written his book called Anashakti. And from where people named this place as Anashakti Ashram.
You can enter the ashram for free and go through the life whole life spent by Gandhiji until his death which is depicted by photos along with descriptions.

Anasakti Ashram, also known as Gandhi Ashram, where Gandhi ji stayed for around 2 weeks. The ashram is well maintained and peaceful. There is a prayer hall, devoted to the freedom movement of Gandhiji, one can spent quiet times by seeing the pictures of various events involving Gandhiji. The complex is well maintained.

About 1km uphill from the bus stand, (but i hope you must be having booked a cab). Anasakti Ashram is where Mahatma Gandhi spent two weeks pondering and writing Anasakti Yoga. It has a small museum that tells the story of Gandhi’s life through photographs and words containing Gohle ji, mahamana ji, meeting of round table etc Actually you can feel the history watching all the black and white photos of that Era. Also you can describe your kids or teens about those events and great people. i felt awesome here. A small shop of tea & snacks is available. but keep your medicines always during tour in hill stations. At least 1.5 hours needed to visit this place casually. But if you are interested in history and Gandhi then more than 2 hours required.

To visit the scenic splendor heavenly beauty of kumayun Himalayas kausani is the right place. The major Snowy Mountain picks are Nanda ghunti, Trishul, Mrigthuni, Maiktoli, nanda khat, nandadevi, chhanghch, Nanda kot, and Panchachuli group. Kausani was called by Switzerland as stated Mahatma Gandhi, I had wonderful experience to visit the place with my family by end march,
Last railway station is kathgudam for your journey, from there only you should travel through car or bus. Our journey starts from kathgudam, we reach at 5:05am by Ranikhet express from old delhi, we had already booked a cab online from gurukripa travel, to cover maximum area in shorter time frame it may be a good option. The Car pick up at 5:15 am from kathgudam railway station, we travel to kausani via almora and reach the place at 11am, if you go nonstop it will took 4 hrs, but as we have taken time for sight seen like bhim tal, one vaishnodevi temple on the bank of river koshi, frog point on river koshi, also we stop 2-3 times on the way to enjoy the natural beauty of the place it takes a little longer time, but the journey was a comfortable one.
After almora there was a work of road construction was going on so we stop there till the road was not cleared. But as a nature lover I took the time advantage and spot Indian spotted eagle at the place.
Our hotel was booked online to hotel shivay. After quick freshen up and breakfast we start for local sight seen, the main attractions are rudradhari falls, bageshwar temple, tea estate, and ananshakti Gandhi ashram, there is no entry fees in any one attraction.
Rudradhari falls is 12 km from kausani, and last 2 km you have to go by tracking through rocks hills ups and downs and dance forest, so you should have to dressed accordingly, also in my personal opinion this is not a right place for kids and old edge people, there is absolutely no road, we had walked through jungle, local kids are worked as guide and take you to the place, cost is 150 to 250 Rs depends on bargaining.
Bageshwar temple was 15 km from kausani and at the opposite direction of Rudrani falls, very old lord siva temple, there was a large round stone called bhim shila, by myth it can be up by 9 people with one finger, we had tried but failed.
Tea garden come on the way to bageshwar temple, we go up by tracking, nice surrounding view, there was a restaurant opposite to tea garden which offer stunning beauty of Himalayan range, and when we had reached there it was raining, chilling cold breeze fly us out, we enjoyed nice green tea, pakoda, and vej soup in the windy atmosphere, slowly cloud was cleared and slowly nandadevi peak appears in front of us, we spend some unforgettable moment there.
Night was chilling cold, we was under two thick blanket with all woollen wear still feeling those protections were not sufficient,
Next morning we went for sunrise view to Ananshakti Ashram, the beauty was marvellous, and there was no word to describe it, we had lost our mind, as we put down our bag and water bottle and enjoying photography few monkey take the advantage, and take away our belongings, fortunately we got those back, so be careful about monkey.
We left kausani at 9:30am take the unforgettable memory in our heart.

Anasakti Ashram was built to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi who visited this place in 1929 and allured by its sheer beauty described it as the ‘Switzerland of India’. It is here that he wrote his treatise Anasakti (‘detachment’) Yoga.
Near the entry gate, one can witness statues of Mahatma Gandhi and Gandhiji's 3 monkeys. The premises offer ample parking space for vehicles. There is no entry fee. Around an hour is required to visit the ashram and take it's feel.
The place is very well maintained and gives a complete and unrestricted view to the mighty Himalayan range. One can visit ‘Prarthana room’ and museum, where entire Gandhi's life has been portrayed. Prayers are held every morning and evening. The ashram has a good collection of literature, books and photographs of Gandhiji’s life.
Accommodation facility; at economical rate; is also available for visitors/tourists. A small shop is also there in the premises, from where one can buy souvenirs n Khadi clothes.
To sum up, a memorable visit.

Hi !
It was my experience that I stayed one night at Kausani when my daughter was 10 months old but it was not in March end when you have planned . What I feel March end will be a pleasant time as the night will be a little bit chilly . You must take proper guidance from your baby's health provider & medicines for like cold, cough, fever, stomach disorder, inhaler, a thermometer etc. Of course, heavy woolens for your baby.
