Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a lovely day out in spite of the weather being a bit damp. The food in the cafe was lovely and all the staff were very friendly. My husband went on the boat trip whilst I waited in the beautifully kept gardens which are cared for by a great group of volunteers.

What a great place to visit. We'd been meaning to visit for ages and are so glad we finally made it. We pre-booked our boat trip in advance. It was easy to find and park with lovely clean well-organised visitor centre, exhibitions and facilities. The captain and guide on our boat trip were really excellent - entertaining and informative. And lovely coffee and cake in the cafe before we came home.

We were having some work done at A&E leisure nearby so decided to spent some time at the Anderson boat lift centre. Wow - how enjoyable it was. Did the boat trip with our 2 dogs, it was the first trip at 10am and there were only 4 of us on the trip! So it was very personable with Paul telling us all about the history and surroundings, with Andrew and Kai navigating the boat. Learnt a lot….especially about salt and the word “salary!”. We came up in the boat lift which was awesome and an experience! Then went to the dog friendly visitors centre and cafe. Full Boaters brekkie was freshly cooked and very good. But not as good as the sandwiches!! I love a sandwich….and these are freshly made on site and replenished when they run low. I told the ladies I had never had such a fresh and tasty Ham salad sandwich and as we were in the area the next day we came back for more of the same! The whole centre is immaculate and clean, well run and managed and a very nice place to spend a few hours. Thank you to all concerned.

An excellent half day’s historical experience ….. made all the more interesting with Roger’s commentary!
Very impressive centre, boat trip is brilliant & the coffee shop offers a variety of drinks/meals to enjoy before or after your trip.
Thoroughly enjoyable & I would strongly recommend if you’re in the area.

as we were in the area we decided to visit. this was largely due to watching a youtube video by Martin Zero recently. would have liked to have done the boat trip, but the gentleman who does them was poorly. always a good excuse to visit again. my one downside to this visit was the cafe, its card only, i`m the dinosaur who still uses cash wherever possible.

Thank you for the 5 star review and comments. We look forward to welcoming you again when you find an excuse to visit this part of Cheshire. I know some of our customers do not like the fact that we are a cashless venue but by making substantial savings through not handling cash we are able to open and staff the Visitor Centre for more days. If we did not make these saving we would be forced to find other ways of cutting costs. This is the unfortunate reality of running a tourist attraction.

A very enjoyable day, even if you're not technically minded. The boat trip along the river before returning and going onto the lift was very relaxing. Spotted heron, cormorants, swans, grebes. Very informative commentary all along the journey then back into the lift which was fascinating. Frequent activities alongside the bank, this time a classic car rally, last week a steam engine rally so worth checking to see if anything is on before you pick a date.

Great centre with lots of information about the lift and it was well laid out.
A walk through well maintained gardens down to the riverside was pleasant and the trip down the river informative.
Nice to go up in the boat lift and the whole thing was a great visit.
Definitely worth going to see.

We booked on to the first trip of the day to benefit from the reduced price and we were surprised to see that we were the only passengers on. We had the very knowledgeable and welcoming crew all to ourselves.
The trip is very good value, you get an hours worth of cruising on the river with commentary, and then the journey through the lift - really fascinating. If you are in the area - then make sure you don't miss the opportunity.
When we disembarked, we stayed in the visitor centre to enjoy a breakfast - excellent value for money, clean and hygienic, staff so friendly and helpful. Top experience. You won't be disappointed.
