What a great way to spend Easter Sunday this year, sun surf and family hanging out at the beach. The place was buzzing with families and others enjoying the perfect weather. No wind and the sea was not too cold. Walked for ages up towards...More

We go here just about every week especially when the sun is beaming. It has beautiful views of the up west coast of our region nd you can also see the south island and kapiti island from here.

In spite of all the fishermen getting out on this beach is great. Open spaces, empty places great ocean views. Go for a walk.

Parking the car at the surf club carpark - a walk south to the river mouth and them up to the bird sanctury and back along the road will take you just over an hour. A pleasant walk.

Visited on a blustery day but it didn’t detract to much from my stay. The scenery was great and the bird sanctuary next to it was great for pictures. The sunset was amazing, wish I was able to spend more time there.
