About
A delightful community cafe selling homemade bread, jams, chutneys and marmalades, locally made pies and southern Indian curries, crafts and homemade cakes and biscuits. Come and enjoy a cup of tea and a snack in our lovely garden under a spreading oak tree with views across the valley and down the river Derwent.

We loved the Community Shop. The bread and cakes we bought were delicious and fresh and the chat was warm and welcoming!

All-the-essentials village shop with snacks and ho drinks
Feb 2020
Really friendly welcome (thanks John!). Selection of cakes and hot drinks. Other snacks in high season. All the home essentials are here plus more adventurous foodie treats. Seats inside and out. Helpful advice on spots to visit locally.

A great place to stop awhile if you want some context and a chat and not just carbs.

Perfect Cafe and Community Shop
Jan 2020 • Family
Had a lovely visit to the cafe, purchased two lovely hot chocolates and millionaires cakes. We sat in the glorious winter sunshine in the outside seated area. The staff here were really friendly and gave us excellent directions for a different route back for our journey. Highly recommended, we will be returning on our next visit! They were open on a Sunday too. The disabled toilet is clean inside the church itself.

A welcome port of call in a storm
Nov 2019
Walking from Curbar to Grindleford and back again, we saw the sign for the William on the footpath. Eventually found it, but was closed.
It was raining, it was miserable but we walked to the church to find the Community Shop open and serving teas. We spent the best part of an hour eating a lunch: wonderful Cornish Pasty, Cheese Pasties and Granola bars. We were made very welcome by a lady we think was called Jane and we were supplied with extra hot water for the pot of tea.
Thank you so much.

Perfect Stop off on a walk
Sep 2018 • Couples
We stopped in on our way along the Derwent Way. It's a great little shop, with literally everything and anything you could possibly need. If you want a delcious home made cake or a simple tea or filter coffee, on a walk, stop here! We love a volunteer run place.

amazing stock for a tiny place
Aug 2018 • Couples
This is a valuable resource maintained by volunteers. It's slightly hidden away, by the north transept of the church (it has its own entrance, but you go through the churchyard). It has a really useful range of goods, both for visitors like us and, I would think, for residents. And the volunteer on duty when we were there was chatty and very friendly. Give them some custom!

Peaceful stop for a coffee and sausage roll
Jun 2018 • Solo
I decided to walk into grindleford from the train station in the hopes of finding a different cafe to the one at the station I came along this converted church with people sat outside with tea and coffee so I thought that'll do, its a tiny shop with supplies for the village in a lovely spot, they sell beverages and cakes and pasties, the people working there are very nice and passionate and the coffee was served in a cafetiere and brought out to me. It's all outdoor seating seeing as though it is a shop.
